Frank Castle AKA the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) is bloodied after taking down all the inmates in a prison fight.

There have been several breakout stars within the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year. Between Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), and the soon-to-debut Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), the movie side has made audiences even more excited for the future. But the television side was no slouch either, having debuted Ghost Rider (Gabriel Luna), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Elektra (Elodie Yung), and Punisher (Jon Bernthal). The last one was such a hit Netflix and Marvel announced that The Punisher will be their sixth series in the streaming services' growing MCU.

Over the last few months, it started to look more and more likely that The Punisher was being fast tracked based on his popularity in Daredevil season 2. Set photos revealed that production has commenced, and now Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) have returned to film more scenes together.

Just Jared recently posted more photos from The Punisher set, but this time it appears as though Frank is either homeless or undercover. Whatever the case may be, Karen is still there to lend a helping hand in some capacity. These photos only further point to Karen having a larger role in the series than initially expected, at least for whatever storyline is unfolding in these images.

Netflix and Marvel continue to film in locations that provide photographers with the opportunity to get pictures of what is happening. Past series have gone to great lengths to hide production prevent too many early looks at what's being filmed. This could simply be out of their control at this point, but the more likely case is they are okay with these non-spoilery photos because it gets fans even more excited for the series.

Fans should not have to wait too long to see The Punisher in his own solo series. The first season is set for a 2017 debut and with filming already underway, a late summer or early fall release date could be possible. The question becomes whether or not Netflix and Marvel plan to release the series ahead of The Defenders miniseries, or if the Punisher will next appear in his own series to set up his potential involvement with the team up. Regardless, fans of the character should have multiple opportunities to see Punisher on their TVs next year.

Daredevil season 1 & 2, Jessica Jones season 1, and Luke Cage season 1 are now available on Netflix. Iron Fist season 1 arrives on March 17th, 2017. The Defenders and The Punisher arrive in 2017. Release dates for Jessica Jones season 2 and Daredevil season 3 have not yet been announced.
