The Peripheral season 2 is officially confirmed by Prime Video. Loosely adapted from William Gibson's 2014 novel of the same name and executive produced by Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, The Peripheral debuted to plenty of anticipation in October 2022. The sci-fi series stars Chloë Grace Moretz as the leading character Flynne. Seeking purpose in her life as she takes care of her ailing mother, Flynne's an avid gamer alongside her brother Burton (played by Jack Reynor). This leads them to test out a new system from a company that allows Flynne to unlock her dreams but also puts her life at risk.

Even though the show received positive updates, the show's continuation was still in question. Now, according to THR, Prime Video officially announced that The Peripheral is coming back for season 2. The news reaffirms Joy's remarks that there are hopes and ideas for a third installment and beyond.

What To Expect From The Peripheral Season 2

By the end of the sci-fi drama's season 1, the story had already expanded well beyond its complex setup. Flynne finally seizes control, dealing with foes like Zubov (JJ Feild) and Cherise (T'Nia Miller). She protects her 2032 stub by relying on an unlikely alliance, which temporarily lessens the threat that Cherise poses. Still, by creating a new splinter in history, The Peripheral shifted significantly. But with the looming danger of the Research Institute very much still present, Flynne is far from safety.

Season 2 will have to answer key questions, such as whether the Jackpot can actually be prevented. There's also the unknown of whether Flynne, alongside Wilf, can undo the Research Institute's haptic manipulations. Flynne is also at the center of other mysteries, including how she connects to Aelita's grandfather clock. Zublov was at the center of The Peripheral after-credits scene, encountering Russians who order him to cut ties with The Research Institute.

There is no shortage of stories for The Peripheral season 2. After a bit of trepidation due to the time it took for the renewal to be confirmed, the focus now turns to what the new batch of episodes will look like and which characters will get a deeper exploration.
