The Outlaws ends with the misfit group happily getting on with their community service having got Ben off the hook, but there are still plenty of loose ends to explore in season 2. The comedy crime series, created by Stephen Merchant and Elgin James, was first aired in the UK in October 2021 and released to a global audience on Amazon Prime in April 2022. Set in Merchant's home city of Bristol, the show follows a group of seven crime-committing strangers who become unlikely allies.

Under the watchful eye of their rule-abiding supervisor, Diane (Jessica Gunning), the offenders are tasked with renovating a run-down community building. What initially looks to be a simple, monotonous task, turns interesting when a mysterious bag of money is found. The money was initially stolen by Ben/Christian (Gamba Cole), who hid it at the building the group was working on. But soon fellow lawbreakers Frank, John, and Myrna stumble across it and, thinking they got lucky, decide to keep it for themselves.

The money will continue to be a central plot point in The Outlaw's second season. Ben still does not know where the money went but is surely suspicious that at least one of the core group knows what happened to it, given he hid it in the community building that only they have access to. If he finds out that John's (Darren Boyd) failing family business is suddenly debt-free, and that Frank (Christopher Walken) and Myrna (Clare Perkins) are in on it, it will cause a huge rift between the group who, by the end of The Outlaws season 1, were all finally on good terms. Also still interested in the money's whereabouts is the gang that Ben stole the money from. Expect Ben and the rest of the group to be put in serious danger as the violent gang continues their hunt for the huge sum of cash that they lost.

Another pivotal moment in the show was when Ben's sister shoots a local gang member, Spider (James Nelson-Joyce), but Ben takes the blame for it. The Outlaws ending shows Ben being arrested for the crime, but the group comes up with a story to get him out of trouble. Can that really be the end of the police investigation? Detective Sergeant Haines (Grace Calder) has made her intentions clear that she wants to rid Bristol of gang violence, so her chase for the shooter surely can't stop there. Haines will have a larger role in The Outlaws season 2, as the season 1 finale showed her crew still investigating CCTV footage of the initial money robbery, which connects Rani (Rhianne Barreto), the Oxford Univesity hopeful, to the crime.

There are plenty of other loose ends that The Outlaws can explore in season 2. In the show's finale, Spencer discovered Greg's cupboard of chaos, so his blackmail will be a key subplot going forward. Greg, the goofy lawyer played by Stephen Merchant, developed a sense of purpose in season 1, so expect him to stand up to the workplace bully even if it costs him his job. Another big question mark is whether Frank, the veteran criminal played by Christopher Walken, will stay or leave his family. Frank reconnected with his daughter and grandchildren throughout the series but was set to fly away from them before his grandson burned his flight tickets. Expect Frank to stick around in season 2 as he continues to develop a moral compass, though he may still be kicking himself after painting over a real Banksy in the closing moments of The Outlaws.
