According to Take-Two Interactive's latest earnings report, the second narrative expansion for The Outer Worlds, Murder on Eridanos, is slated to launch before the end of March. The Outer Worlds' Expansion Pass, priced at $24.99, boasts two different story-focused DLC offerings. As the first of such post-launch content from developer Obsidian Entertainment, Peril on Gorgon became available last September.

Peril on Gorgon notably took the crew aboard the Unreliable to the Gorgon Asteroid, which formerly served as the home to Halcyon’s horrific science experiments. Though the asteroid now plays host to all manner of outlaw types, there are still answers left to be uncovered about the aforementioned science project and its disgraced supervisor, Dr. Olivia Ambrose. And, interestingly, it's the doctor's daughter, the very wealthy Minnie Ambrose, who begins asking the questions. The expansion didn't only thrust players into a brand-new mystery, an increased level cap and extra science weapons entered the mix as well, alongside additional flaws, perks, and armor sets.

In a Q3 2021 earnings report transcribed by SeekingAlpha, Take-Two Interactive's President, Karl Slatoff, revealed The Outer Worlds' second expansion is due to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms by the end of this fiscal year. Since Take-Two's fiscal year comes to a close next month on March 31, it stands to reason Murder on Eridanos will arrive before the start of April. While Slatoff also confirmed the sci-fi RPG's second story DLC will launch on Nintendo Switch during this calendar year, he did not specify a release date.

The clearly imminent due date for Murder on Eridanos suggests Obsidian will unleash new details in the coming weeks. First gameplay for Peril on Gorgon didn't surface until a little over a week before the content's launch on consoles; thus, it's possible information regarding the second expansion will remain under wraps until days before release.

Reportedly, the forthcoming story DLC does not count as the only Outer Worlds-related content Obsidian is working on. Late last year, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad claimed he'd heard word that the group had just entered pre-production on a sequel to The Outer Worlds. Obsidian remains silent on the matter, so fans should take any news about a second entry with a grain of salt for the time being.
