Most shows on television are concise and to-the-point, necessary due to the time restrictions of filming episodes and having less money than big-budget blockbuster films. Along with this, it's usually a given that most television show ensembles should be concise as well - but The Office is no ordinary show.

While most sitcoms having a core-cast of 5-10 characters, the American-version of the popular British comedy ended up having nearly 20 Dunder-Mifflin employees who could be categorized as "main characters" - and whichever one is your favorite will certainly say something about you.

Erin Hannon

Erin smiling in The Office

Brought in during season 5, Erin was a head-in-the-clouds daydreamer who never let her mindless wanderings get in the way of her work.

So, if Erin is your favorite character, it's possible that you're a person who's seemingly always smiling, regardless of whether you're feeding paper into a fax machine or mentally planning out your next vacation.

Darryl Philbin

Darryl sitting behind a desk, talking to the camera on The Office

Darryl was a character that flip-flopped halfway through the show, starting as the manager of the warehouse and working his way up to a job in the office (where he got his own office).

That said, if Darryl is your favorite character, maybe you're a person who doesn't mind getting your hands dirty while also being fully capable of throwing on a shirt-and-tie and impressing a group of executives.

Toby Flenderson

Toby giving a meeting on bullying on The Office

Toby was treated poorly during his time on the show (mainly by Michael) but that never stopped him from being a great HR rep and constantly doing his best work.

So, if Toby is your favorite character, maybe you're a truly sympathetic person who knew Toby didn't deserve the crap he got from Michael. Or perhaps you're a hard-worker who constantly produces excellent work despite having to deal with a less-than-stellar boss.

Andy Bernard

Andy Bernard excited and screaming in The Office

Andy started as a lowly sales-rep and somehow worked his way up to manager of the entire branch (after some extensive anger-management and soul-searching).

With that in mind, if Andy is your favorite character, perhaps you're a person who takes time to blossom and show how essential you can truly be to a collective group of people.

Ryan Howard

Ryan holding his head with his hands while talking to the camera in The Office

There might not be many Ryan fans out there since he ultimately became quite the failure by the show's end, but that doesn't mean that Ryan didn't give it his absolute all during his time with Dunder Mifflin.

If Ryan happens to be your favorite character, maybe you simply respect his effort/can-do attitude and the fact that Ryan was a person who never gave up (despite never really knowing what he was doing).

Kelly Kapoor

the office

Despite being around since season 1, Kelly wasn't given much of a character-arc until a few seasons in - that said, her character didn't grow very much past being the gossipy-girl who never knew when to stop talking.

That said, talking too much isn't necessarily a bad thing, so if Kelly is your favorite character then maybe you're a person who just enjoys getting more than the minimum amount of information.

Meredith Palmer

the office

No judgment, but Meredith was meant to be the most obscene Dunder Mifflin employee as she routinely displayed how little she cared about hygiene, exposing herself or her work as a whole.

So, if Meredith is your favorite character, it might not mean that you possess any of these obscene characteristics - it probably just means you love laughing at the obscene character living in a sitcom.

Angela Martin

Angela Martin grossed out on The Office

Angela was known as the stuffy, get-it-done-right member of the office and seldom had time for the pranks and hijinks that always surrounded her.

With that said, Angela was able to loosen up a tad by the end of the series - so, if she happens to be your favorite character, maybe you're a person who simply needs to feel completely comfortable before engaging with the world around you.

Oscar Martinez

Oscar and Meredith at their desks on The Office

Oscar may have been the only homosexual at Dunder Mifflin, but his character hardly revolved around that trait as his primary characteristic was intelligence.

With that knowledge, perhaps Oscar is your favorite character if you're a person who is fully-accepted by those around you and has a life focused on the things that truly matter.

Stanley Hudson

Stanley Hudson from The Office

Let's be honest - Stanley was a character who wanted to show up, do his work, not talk to anyone, get paid, and go home. End of story.

So, if Stanley is your favorite character, you're probably a person who enjoys getting to the point quickly, efficiently, and not being disturbed by anyone in the process of getting there.

Phyllis Vance

the office

Every office has a Phyllis - a person who seems quiet and mousy but is actually incredibly powerful and capable of getting a ton of work done.

That said, if Phyllis is your favorite member of Dunder Mifflin, perhaps you also appear timid and docile upon first glance but are capable of outproducing/outworking anybody that steps to you.

Kevin Malone

Kevin Malone talking to Oscar on The Office

Every office also has a Kevin - a guy who isn't really competent at their job but is so lovable and fun to have around that nobody really minds the incompetency (unless you're Angela).

With Kevin as your favorite character, it's most likely that you're a person who appreciates all of the positive traits that a person brings to the table, rather than focusing on the negative.

Creed Bratton

Creed playing the guitar on The Office

Creed was Creed. Simply put, there's never been a character like Creed on television before and there will never be one again.

So, if Creed is your favorite character to watch, it's no guarantee that you're a wacky, out-there type of person who seemingly can't hold a normal conversation to save your life - you might just love laughing at the unexpected.

Michael Scott

Michael Scott talking on the phone in The Office

The long-time manager of Dunder Mifflin Scranton-branch was as inappropriate as he was unproductive - yet, he still managed to be the best, most caring, manager that the company ever had.

So, if Michael is your favorite, perhaps you're a person that realizes that even in a life filled with suits, ties, and endless amounts of paper, everybody still needs to act a little childish from time to time.

Dwight Schrute

the office

Dwight was arguably as odd as Creed, just slightly more functional and he cared much more about being an outstanding employee.

With that in mind, if Dwight is your favorite character, you're probably a person who is capable of achieving the greatest possible results by doing so in the strangest possible ways. Or maybe you just like bears, beets, and Battlestar Galactica.

Pam Beesly

An image of Pam Beesly doing work at her desk in The Office

Pam and Jim's relationship may have been a prominent part of Pam's character, but she was much more than that as she consistently kept the office running smoothly and never gave up on achieving her goals (despite being unsure of what they were sometimes).

So, with Pam as your favorite, you might be a person who is a little blind to the good things in your life, but you'll eventually come around and accept them whole-heartedly once your path becomes clearer.

Jim Halpert

Jim Halpert at his desk

Despite being the ultimate prankster, Jim also made a point of being a reputable salesman, terrific husband/father, and eventually even started up his own company.

If Jim is your favorite character, it's certainly possible that you're a person who enjoys goofing-off when it's called for, but you're also more than capable of buckling-down and achieving whatever goals you set for yourself.
