When one talks about some of the funniest and most legendary sitcoms of all time, then it goes without saying that The Office would certainly be a focal point of this conversation. After all, The Office is easily one of the best shows ever made, and the fact that it's still going strong as one of the most watched shows on streaming platforms speaks volumes when it comes to the massive popularity of the show.

One of the major reasons why The Office was so popular was due to its characters, with each person playing a significant role in the overall narrative in some form or the other. One such character is Roy Anderson, who ends up becoming an antagonist of sorts who stands in the way of Pam and Jim's love for the longest time.

Since this character is pretty one-note for the most part, there are bound to be some nonsensical things about him that should be addressed. Keeping this in mind, here are ten things about Roy Anderson that make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

The Fact That Him And Pam Were Engaged For Three Years Is Quite Weird Indeed

Pam & Roy Anderson

Engagements are something to be taken seriously, and the fact that Pam and Roy were engaged for three years with barely any movement in the right direction should've been a red flag from the get-go.

And of course, speaking of red flags...

Roy Treated Pam Like Crap, Which Is Weird Given Their Eight-Year History

For someone who's been with a great catch like Pam for eight years, it's genuinely horrible to see the callous manner with which Roy treats Pam in the office at times.

Of course, one would definitely feel sorry for Pam in this regard... but then there's a limit to which one can sympathize with her character.

It's Weird As To Why Pam Chose To Be In A Relationship With Him

It's not like Pam was forced into being in a relationship with an uncompassionate turdball like Roy. She decided that the best thing for herself was to stick with what was familiar instead of exploring new avenues.

This led to her being completely okay with a boring, stale relationship that should've run its course a long, long time ago.

Roy Showed His Compassionate Side To Pam Just A Tad Too Late

The only time when Roy finally decided to stop taking Pam for granted and actually show her how much he really loved her... was when she broke up with him.

If Roy felt all these emotions from the get-go, then where did these gestures disappear to while he was actually together with her? It truly boggles the mind!

The Fact That He Would Throw Hands With Jim In The Office Was A Foolhardy Idea

Roy looking at Jim in The Office

After finding out that Jim kissed Pam while they were still dating, an incensed Roy trashed the bar where this information was revealed, before storming into the office in a bid to beat Jim down. Thankfully, Dwight was there to save the day with his pepper spray and thwarted Roy's aggression.

After this incident, it was only a given that Roy would be fired. While it's true that he was emotionally charged up at that particular time, Roy should've still thought things through and tried approaching Jim in an environment that wasn't professional.

His Character Changes Way Too Drastically

Post Roy's firing, the character only makes some brief appearances before his wedding in Season 9, where it almost feels like this character did a complete 180!

While a lot of time had passed since Roy had been seen on-screen, surely someone as stubborn as him would've taken more time before actually turning into a halfway-decent person?

The Fact That He Successfully Started A Gravel Business Sounds Completely Unlike Him

Roy Arrest

Let's take a look at everything that changed in Season 9 and how it's just so sudden and forced. For starters, a moron like Roy actually managed to start a successful business that netted him a ton of cash, which makes no sense whatsoever.

Roy wasn't exactly the brightest bulb around, so for him to magically start up a business that would be successful in the long haul sounds incredibly suspect.

He Makes The Act Of Learning A Piano Look Deceptively Easy

Roy's Wedding in The Office

Any musician would talk at length about how fictional programs make the art of mastering an instrument look like the easiest thing in the world, and The Office is — unfortunately enough — no exception to this.

While it's possible that taking enough piano lessons might help anyone be fairly competent on this complex instrument, keep in mind that this is Roy we're talking about. Surely someone as slow as him would've taken way more time to learn something as tough as the piano?

His Singing Chops Seem To Come Out Of Nowhere

Roy Pam

The final development in Roy's character that literally no one could've predicted is the fact that he was actually a halfway-decent singer as well!

Where did all these talents suddenly come from? And — more importantly — where were all these talents when he was in the most boring relationship ever with Pam?

The Idea Of Roy's Transformation Causing A Greater Rift Between Pam And Jim Is Laughable

Jim Pam

Season 9 forces a horrible subplot where Jim and Pam end up facing issues in their marriage — a development that taints a romance that was otherwise as picturesque and beautiful as an on-screen romance could get.

After seeing how well Roy was going, somehow this inconsequential character ends up increasing the distance between Jim and Pam, which is absolutely ridiculous to even imagine.

And yet... this ends up playing into the marital problems between these two characters, which is indicative of the fact that the writers clearly ran out of ideas to make Pam and Jim relevant.
