10 WE GET INTRODUCED TO THE CHARACTERS

Meeting the characters on this show for the first time is something you can never relieve. The first season sets up the characters and who they are very effectively. We learn that Dwight is a weirdo and nerd and that Michael is a boss who desperately wants to be liked but makes people uncomfortable as he tries to do so.

We also early on see the characters we are really going to be rooting for. We see Jim and Pam and instinctively like them and want them to be happy.

As the show progresses, the characters on the show do go through character development even through all of the humor and ridiculous moments. Many of the characters that didn’t seem likable at first become lovable with time despite their quirks. In the first season, however, we get to see some of the employees of Dunder Mifflin in their less-evolved, more over-the-top forms. This is extremely funny and makes for great television.

8 WE START TO SEE THE RELATIONSHIPS AND EMOTION BETWEEN DIFFERENT CHARACTERS

Jim Pam and Roy From The Office

Even in the first few episodes of The Office, we start to see relationships forming that will last and evolve throughout the entire show. It’s easy to see how Jim and Pam have a crush on each other and how they would make a great couple. We also see that Pam is in a bad relationship and has low self-esteem. The first season lets the audience get to know these two characters and begin to root for them right away.

7 IT’S SHORT AND SWEET

While it’s definitely good thing that all the rest of the seasons of The Office had more episodes, as we want to be able to watch as many episodes as possible over and over, this short season was very effective. The first season is hilarious and establishes characters, but the show definitely grows and changes in the second season. The short first season does an efficient job of introducing us to the world of Dunder Mifflin Scranton.

6 SOME OF THE BEST LINES COME FROM THIS SEASON

The Office is full of witty one-liners and hilarious quotes that people are still saying today. The first season of the show aired 14 years ago, but it still has some of the funniest lines.

With nine seasons, The Office has some amazing episodes. Some of the best episodes of the show came early on in the series, and the first season is no exception. Episodes such as “Diversity Day” and “Basketball” are hilarious and still memorable. These episodes were especially powerful because they showed all of the ridiculous hijinks and wacky scenarios that Dunder Mifflin employees found themselves in.

4 THE SHOW HAS MEMORABLE GUEST STARS IN THIS SEASON ALREADY

As The Office developed, it had many, many guest stars. While the first season of the show wasn’t expected to be a big success, they had guest stars on the show who would end up being extremely well-known celebrities.

For example, Amy Adams is featured in this season as Katy, a woman who sells purses to the office and ends up dating Jim. It’s definitely great to go back and watch this season and see Amy Adams in this role before she became a big star.

3 THIS SEASON SETS THE SHOW UP FOR THE FUTURE

Without a successful first season, it would have been difficult for The Office to become the major success that it was. The first season set up a strong foundation that already included many of the best elements that the show had to offer.

We saw the mockumentary style of filming and learned a lot of what we needed to know about the main cast of characters including Michael, Dwight, Pam, Jim, Angela, Phyllis, Oscar, Stanley, and more. If you loved the first season of the show, it’s likely you’d love the whole thing.

2 THE CHARACTERISTIC HUMOR IS SET UP

While many shows since The Office have used similar mockumentary styles and incorporated many elements of this type of humor, The Office was one of the first and best. The show uses relatable humor and cringe humor that people loved. The lines are witty at times and the scenarios are often over the top and ridiculous. The characters are characters in a sense allowing for some great humor, but they are also rather complex and likable.

1 1.WE START TO FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CHARACTERS ALREADY

One of the things that makes The Office so effective and loved as a show is because fans love the characters. There are times when the characters are very unlikable, rude, or just weird, but despite all of that, we see their good sides and their relationships. We root for them and want them to be successful. This is especially true for characters like Jim and Pam, and the first season sets them up as the heart of the show early on.
