While the main characters of The Office such as Michael, Dwight, Pam, and Jim are all extremely entertaining and make the show engaging, the supporting cast also plays a big role in making the show such a success. The other employees of Dunder Mifflin Scranton are all rather ridiculous and over-the-top, and they add a great mix of comedy to the series. One of the most ridiculous characters from the series is Meredith Palmer. She is always doing a lot of inappropriate things at work that wouldn’t really fly in real life.
Here are the ten most inappropriate things Meredith ever did.
WHEN SHE WORE SOMETHING REALLY REVEALING ON CASUAL FRIDAY
When Toby reinstates casual Fridays at the office, it’s no surprise when many people don’t exactly know how to dress. Instead of just dressing in a casual but appropriate manner, many take things too far. Meredith is the one whose outfit is the least business approved of all.
She wears a short slip dress that barely covers her. When asked to try to cover her butt because it’s hanging out, she pulls the dress down to reveal her breasts.
THE TIME SHE EXCHANGED SEX FOR DISCOUNTS AND STEAK COUPONS
In the episode “Business Ethics,” Meredith reveals that her inappropriate behavior extends just beyond being out of line at the office. She’s also engaging in some pretty inappropriate business conduct outside of work.
She reveals in the ethics meeting that she’s been sleeping with an employee from Hammermill so that Dunder Mifflin could get a discount, and he also gives her Outback Steakhouse supplies when they sleep together. This is definitely not something anyone should be doing for a business discount.
FLASHING MICHAEL AFTER THE CHRISTMAS PARTY
It’s clear that Meredith is someone who is very free about her body. While what she does with her body and if she enjoys sleeping around isn't a problem as that’s her business, the fact that she brings this inappropriate behavior into the workplace isn’t acceptable.
She’s been known to try to sleep with and even flash her co-workers. One of the most egregious times she does this is when she gets drunk and flashes Michael after one of the office Christmas parties.
DRINKING AT WORK ALL THE TIME
How much someone drinks when they're not at work isn’t really their company’s business as long as it doesn’t impact their behavior and job performance.
However, Meredith’s drinking problem is so severe that she is always drinking at work. She isn’t even that concerned about hiding it some of the time. We see her do things such as put alcohol into a soda cup in order to keep drinking while at her desk. The fact that she’s so often drunk while at her job is pretty troubling.
TRYING TO GET JIM TO SIGN HER CAST OVER HER CROTCH AREA
One thing that’s pretty bad about Dunder Mifflin is how often the employees sexually harass one another. While it’s often the men doing this, namely people like Michael and Kevin, Meredith is also a culprit.
She can be very sexually suggestive and make passes at people when it’s not appropriate. One example of this is after she gets her cast when her hip is broken. She tries to get Jim to sign over her crotch area even though he’s clearly uncomfortable.
THE TIME SHE WAS FINE WATCHING HER SON STRIP
One of the most awkward and awful Meredith moments happens in the series finale of The Office. During the bachelorette party for Angela, a male stripper is hired.
This turns out to be Meredith’s son. Instead of finding this weird and leaving, she is totally fine with it and in fact, seems to not mind watching her son strip. Everyone else is understandably uncomfortable, and this moment is pretty messed up.
USING PAM’S BREASTFEEDING PUMP
It’s very clear that most of the employees of Dunder Mifflin are bad at understanding boundaries. They cross many lines at work, and they are often violating the privacy and respect of their co-workers. Meredith is one who is often bad at this.
One of the worst examples is when she takes Pam’s pump that Pam uses while at work since she’s breastfeeding Cece. She takes it into the bathroom to use on herself which is completely out of line and also gross.
SETTING HER HAIR ON FIRE DURING THE MOROCCAN CHRISTMAS EPISODE
During the Moroccan Christmas party is when Meredith’s issues with drinking become the most apparent. She is often getting drunk at work and especially at parties, but she takes things to an extreme level this time.
While at most work parties people try to be professional about their drinking, Meredith gets nearly blackout drunk. She then lights her hair on fire and doesn’t even realize it’s happening.
WHEN SHE TOTALLY RUINS ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING GARAGE AT THE STEAMTOWN MALL
In an episode that’s full of inappropriate behavior, Meredith ends up driving the women of the office, and Michael, to the steam town mall.
It’s clear that she’s not a great driver at all and probably often drives drunk. Then, when they get to the parking garage at the mall Meredith ends up squeezing her car into a tight spot and does quite a bit of damage to the other vehicles next to her. Instead of stopping, she just keeps going. Then, she just leaves the car there and doesn’t even do anything about the fact that she damaged other people’s cars.
WHEN SHE EATS/DRINKS HAND SANITIZER
While Meredith’s issues with drinking at work have led to many of her most inappropriate moments, one of the most disgusting of all was when she started eating hand sanitizer at work.
In an attempt to get drunk when she didn’t have any other alcohol around, she starts putting a palmful of hand sanitizer in her mouth. This is obviously bad for her health and also really gross.
