NBC's The Office is one of the most hilarious and highest-rated sitcoms in the history of television. The show features an ensemble cast spanning over 9 seasons and is one of the most iconic sitcoms of this generation that made millions laugh, cry, but also, mostly cringe. The show has an enormous fanbase that has been rallying for a reboot ever since it ended in 2013.

The lives of the employees of the Scranton branch of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company, Inc. are filled with romances, heartbreaks and emotional moments. And while some of the romances are, well, romantic, The Office features many couples who just don't make much sense together. Here are 5 couples that were loved by everyone, and 5 that were not.

Loved - Michael and Holly

Michael and Holly were truly one of the most adorable couples in The Office. Holly seemed like a perfect fit for Michael - wacky, funny and dorky. But when Holly was transferred to Dunder Mifflin's Nashua branch where Holly starts seeing AJ. She meets Michael once at a company picnic, but it truly seemed to be the end of their relationship.

However, things seem to fall into place in Season 7, as Holly is transferred back to Scranton, and Michael and Holly start dating again, and later decide to move to Colorado to start a family. It was amazing to see them together again after the ups and downs they both faced.

Annoying - Michael and Jan

Before Michael met the love of his life in Holly Flax, he dated Jan Levinson, his at-that-time boss. Their relationship was probably one of the most dysfunctional relationships in television history, which resulted in the amazingly hilarious yet cringy season 4 episode, "Dinner Party", where viewers got to see just how crazy their relationship was.

Jan was very controlling and their relationship was downright toxic, as Jan was, among other things, selfish, cold and harsh towards Michael. Viewers were quite relieved when Jan and Michael broke up at the end of "Dinner Party", and Michael was finally free from such a dysfunctional relationship.

Loved - Angela and Dwight

Perhaps the weirdest romantic pairing from the show, but also one of the sweetest, comes in the form of Dwight Schrute and Angela Martin. After seasons of ups and downs, it was very satisfying to see these two finally end up together in Season 9.

From hooking up for quite a few seasons to breaking up, Angela getting engaged to Andy, marrying Senator Robert, to finally getting back together in the ninth and final season, it was a rollercoaster for the fans as well as the characters, but fans were quite happy when the pair finally got married in "Finale".

Annoying - Angela and Andy

It was very difficult to watch Andy and Angela continue with their relationship, seeing that Angela was secretly cheating on Andy with Dwight. Andy was an especially sweet boyfriend, and Angela accepting Andy's proposal (saying "Okay" instead of "Yes", hilariously enough) to hurt Dwight's feelings was an especially cold move.

Andy finds out about Dwight and Angela later, though, and challenges Dwight to a duel. When Dwight learns Andy and Angela had gotten "physical" in their relationship, however, he stops fighting, and Andy proceeds to cancel their wedding cake. "The Duel" ends a heartbroken Angela realizes she has lost both men.

Loved - Erin and Andy

Erin and Andy were quite an adorable couple up until Season 9 before Andy left Scranton to sail to the Bahamas with his brother. Andy totally abandoned Erin and didn't communicate with her for the entire three months he was gone. This was also the reason Erin and Pete started dating soon after.

However, they were actually a very cute couple, with Andy doing sweet gestures for Erin such as gifting her the twelve days of Christmas and having twelve drummers play for her at the end of the season six episode, "Secret Santa".

Annoying - Erin and Gabe

The Office 5 Couples Everyone Loved (And 5 That Were Just Annoying) - Erin and Gabe

Okay, maybe Erin and Gabe weren't the worst couple in The Office, but they were far from being a good one. They started dating at the start of Season 7, and all things considered, their relationship was going quite well, until Erin said that she was not attracted to Gabe and wanted to break up with him - in front of the entire office, customers, and waiters of the restaurant where Michael was hosting his last Dundies ("The Dundies").

Erin and Gabe were meant to break up, however, as soon after she broke up with Gabe, she started dating Andy again. This was also when Gabe starts displaying signs of an unhealthy obsession with Erin, such as when he tries to tank Andy's interview for Manager.

Loved - Jim and Pam

Pam falls asleep on Jim's shoulder on The Office

This one is definitely a no-brainer. Jim and Pam's will-they-won't-they relationship kept viewers on the edge of their seats for several seasons. The ups and downs in their relationship - from Jim moving to Dunder Mifflin's Stamford branch to Pam moving to New York to study art - kept viewers engaged throughout the run of the show.

Viewers were always swept away by the romantic gestures Jim did for Pam, such as giving her the teapot, asking her out, and proposing to her in front of a gas station because he couldn't wait any longer and finally getting married in Niagara Falls. Even despite the friction they face in Season 9 due to Jim's new job, they ended up stronger than ever.

Annoying - Pam and Roy

Pam and Roy's was one of the worst relationships in The Office, perhaps the most. They just didn't make any sense together. Pam and Roy were high school sweethearts and they had been engaged for almost 3 years when the series started but they didn't really belong together. Roy was very unsupportive of Pam's passion for art, and Pam had feelings for Jim.

Fans were relieved when Pam dumped Roy in "Casino Night" after he attacked Jim for kissing Pam. There were no hard feelings between Roy and Pam, however, since Roy invited Pam and Jim to his wedding in the Season 9 episode, "Roy's Wedding". Pam was happy with Jim and Roy had found success in his gravel business.

Loved - Darryl and Val

Darryl was immediately taken with Val when she joined the warehouse crew in Season 8. However, she had a boyfriend at that time, Brandon. Darryl was very smitten with Val and they start dating when she breaks up with her boyfriend. However, Darryl soon feels the relationship has gone stale and makes plans to end it. Val dumps Darryl, but then they start dating again, to Darryl's dismay.

They were a good couple and Darryl did put in the effort to get together with Val, despite wanting to break up with Val. The couple seems to make it work, though, as they are seen together in the last episode of The Office, "Finale".

Annoying - Darryl and Kelly

Darryl and Kelly start dating in Season 4 as Kelly wanted to make Ryan jealous after he dumps her. Darryl soon catches on to this, however, and is frustrated by it. Darryl is a little apathetic towards Kelly, but he is honest with her. Their relationship was based entirely on the fact that Kelly wanted Ryan to be jealous and give her attention.

The relationship, however, was thankfully short-lived, as Kelly soon breaks up with Darryl when Ryan moves back into the annex with her. Ryan helps Kelly to break up with Darryl and he responds with "It's cool," making Ryan jealous that Darryl wasn't upset with the relationship ending.
