Over nine seasons, The Office saw many relationships form between the workers. One of the best friendships was between Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). For years, fans watched as the frenemies competed with each other to get the highest sales. However, mutual respect grew between the two salesmen as they bonded over their love lives and work ethic.
No other friendship compared to Dwight and Jim's. Wilson and Krasinski have such good chemistry that fans can often see them crack during their scenes. From their impersonation of each other to Jim being the best man at Dwight's wedding, here are the 10 best Jim and Dwight moments.
Their sales partnership (S3 Ep12)
In the earlier seasons, Jim and Dwight did not get along. However, the pair are shown to have an ideal partnership when Dwight and Jim team up on a sales call. In the episode "Traveling Salesman", Jim reveals he and Dwight used to team up on calls in the past. This is also seen in the episode "Suit Warehouse" as Dwight reveals the duo have pretended to be brothers to win over family businesses.
Their call shows why they have the highest amount of sales as their pitch is the most convincing. Jim and Dwight target their client's needs for a strong customer rep and use this to their advantage. They eventually win over the client without having to resort to cheap tricks.
Impersonating each other (S3 Ep20)
Dwight usually ignores Jim's shenanigans in the past but "Product Recall" sees him get his own back. In the cold open of the episode, Jim enters the office wearing a similar outfit to Dwight. Dwight seems oblivious to the prank until Jim begins to rattle off facts he would only know.
Dwight gets his revenge on Jim by the end of the episode, coming into work dressed in Jim's clothes. Instead of getting offended, Jim and the rest of the office find it amusing. It also seems like a joke between the actors as fans can see Wilson close to laughter when Krasinski says his impression is spot on.
Jim comforts Dwight over Angela (S4 Ep8)
The episode "Money Part 2" saw Jim and Dwight's friendship take a big step after Angela (Angela Kinsey) and Dwight break-up. Angela and Dwight split after the salesman killed her cat ("Fun Run"); she soon begins seeing Andy (Ed Helms), which Dwight does not take very well.
Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer) were the only people in the office who knew about their relationship. So when Dwight rushes out of the office upset, Jim is the one to comfort him. Jim tells Dwight the real reason he left Scranton, relaying to him his own tale of heartbreak. He tells him that he wouldn't wish the feeling on anyone- including Dwight. There is a touching moment as Dwight goes to reach for him only to realize Jim's gone.
Kelly's birthday party (S5 Ep16 & Ep17)
After Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) blackmailed Angela for control of the party planning committee, Michael (Steve Carell) puts Jim and Dwight in charge. However, the two salesmen neglect these duties and end up forgetting Kelly's birthday (Mindy Kaling).
As a result, the two decide to organize a party for the customer sales rep. It's quite the comedy act as Dwight and Jim do their best to please Kelly, decorating the conference room with measly balloons and allowing her to take a nap. Dwight is also seen complimenting Jim for his choice of cake (which is a big deal since fans know how rare his compliments are).
A mutual hatred of Todd Packer (S7 Ep18)
Dwight and Jim may not have agreed on a lot of things, but they did have one thing in common: a mutual hatred of Todd Packer (David Koechner). Todd was a traveling salesman and Michael's best friend; he caused friction amongst the workers with his crass and offensive behavior. Dwight was often on the receiving end of his jokes.
In the episode "Todd Packer," Jim and Dwight decide to team up to try and drive him out of Scranton. They come up with an idea to trick Todd into moving to Tallahassee so the office doesn't have to deal with his shenanigans. Michael allows it to happen after Packer's reveals his true colors when he insults Holly (Amy Ryan). Jim and Dwight are happy to see the back of him.
Jim stopped Dwight from getting fired (S8 Ep18)
Season 8 saw Dwight get a business opportunity when Sabre offers him a promotion. Jim is chosen to be part of Dwight's sales team, traveling to Florida to help him with his special project. When Ryan (B.J. Novak) bails on Dwight at the last minute, Jim steps up to do the presentation for him. Nellie (Catherine Tate) then offers Dwight the position of Vice President.
Dwight is unaware that Robert (James Spader) plans to tank Nellie's idea and fire him. Jim finds out and tries to do everything he can to stop Dwight from attending the meeting. Although he doesn't believe him at first, Dwight soon overhears Robert firing Packer and slips out of the room. Both salesmen then return to Scranton together.
Jim comforts him over infertility worries (S9 Ep4)
In the episode "Work Bus," Jim decides to try and get Pam some extra vacation time after he accepted a job position at Athleap. As the office contains electromagnetic radiation, Jim convinces Dwight to shut the building down by playing a prank on him. However, it backfires on Jim when Dwight hires a work bus for the office to use.
Pam raises concerns to Jim that Dwight is acting unusual. She is proven correct as Dwight snaps at Jim for ordering him about. Jim finds out that Dwight has been worried about whether he is infertile; the pair bond as Jim reassures the salesman that it takes years for some couples to conceive. He also tells him to imagine the office are like his children since Dwight is obligated to look after them. This somehow cheers him up.
Dwight Christmas (S9 Ep9)
In the show's final Christmas episode, the office let Dwight take charge of the party. He decides the theme will be an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch Christmas, to which Jim is enthusiastic about.
However, Dwight's cheerful mood dissipates when Jim has to leave for the bus station. He declares Jim "impish" and proceeds to hit him with the sticks. Dwight then watches on disappointed as Jim leaves, calling off the party. The friendship between Jim and Dwight is shown when Dwight rushes to hug him when he returns to the office.
Jim recommends Dwight for Regional Manager (S9 Ep21 & Ep23)
Dwight's first run at interim manager didn't get off to the best start after he fired a gun in the office. As he sees Jim talking to David (Andy Buckley), he tells Clark (Clark Duke) that he wouldn't mind Jim becoming. However, Dwight soon gets a second chance after David offers him a promotion (at the recommendation of Jim).
Hereafter, Jim becomes Dwight's confidant; he becomes his second in command and helps him to figure out he is still in love with Angela. This prompts Dwight to propose to Angela, who then reveals he is the father of Phillip. Thanks to Jim's encouragement, Dwight has everything he wants.
Jim was his Best Man (S9 Ep24 & Ep25)
Who would have believed that Jim would end up being the best man at Dwight and Angela's wedding? Considering that the pair started as frenemies, no one would have thought they would be best friends by the end. In his talking head, Jim says he has arranged numerous pranks for Dwight's bachelor party, yet all the events Jim has planned are things he enjoys.
Jim also helps Dwight to reconnect with Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) and Michael. Dwight appears disappointed that Jim can't be his best man but soon realizes this is a ruse. Jim planned for Michael to be the Best Man. Still, the fact that Dwight calls Jim his friend shows how far they have come.
