For a silly workplace comedy, The Office actually features many complex relationships but when it comes to choosing the most unique couple, Dwight and Angela certainly take the cake. It takes viewers a while to learn what is going on between the two but once they realize what's going on, Dwight and Angela become a couple that fans never knew they needed, but absolutely do.

Dwight and Angela are strange, quirky, and not the most likable characters on the show. The show's choice to merge the two by way of romance was a risky move, but one that paid off in the end. Their romantic narrative serves to deepen both parties, allowing viewers to better understand them than they might have otherwise. However, while the two can seem like the perfect match, there are times one seems more deserving than the other.

SHE DIDN'T DESERVE HIM: Angela Broke The Contract

In the early stages, Angela micro-manages every aspect of hers and Dwight's relationship. She only uses him to make a child, supposedly, and the two end up forming a contract relating to the specific nature of their relationship and what is agreed upon.

However, Angela is the one to break the contract, leaving Dwight with unresolved feelings.

THEY WERE PERFECT: They Complemented Each Other

Dwight and Angela are very different, but they also complement one another's differences.

Dwight is unpredictable, Angela sticks to a pretty scheduled life and behaves in reliable ways. Angela is uptight and rarely cracks a joke, and Dwight helps her to loosen up and be a little sillier. Despite these weird quirks, they complement each other surprisingly well.

SHE DIDN'T DESERVE HIM: Angela Was Selfish

Angela and Dwight obviously care for one another, even when they pretend that they don't.

They are mostly on equal ground in this way, except that Angela -- knowing that Dwight has feelings for her -- will still always choose the option that greater benefits her life, despite how it affects Dwight.

THEY WERE PERFECT: They Were Both Outcasts

There are lots of odd characters in The Office, but if two single characters were to get together, it actually makes some sense that it would be both Dwight and Angela.

They are both outcasts of the office atmosphere, generally disliked or tolerated for the most part. These leaves them with the best shot of making it with one another.

SHE DIDN'T DESERVE HIM: Angela's Obsessed With Status

Angela might love Dwight, but her obsession with external status and how she looks to society often overshadow her feelings for him.

When The Senator comes along, Angela basically throws Dwight to the side in favor of a man that would look better on paper. If this isn't a rude reason for suddenly brushing someone off, we don't know what it is.

THEY WERE PERFECT: They Are Both Absurd

Dwight and Angela are ridiculous characters. Angela cares more about her cats than she does about people in her life -- literally. Dwight owns a beet farm and then turns it into a spooky bed and breakfast with his animalistic cousin. Angela claims to wear American Girl Doll clothes.

Long story short, when the two of them combined, it was either destined to be a disaster or a work of perfection. Thankfully, the latter seems to be the more likely possibility.

SHE DIDN'T DESERVE HIM: Angela Tried To Keep Dwight's Baby From Him

Angela and Dwight's Baby

When Angela has a baby, she insists that it's The Senator's. Dwight has a growing suspicion that the baby is, in fact, his, judging from features it has that remind him of his Schrute ancestry. That, and the fact that they were sleeping together around the time when the baby would have been conceived.

Yet, Angela tries to dismiss this, preferring a narrative that features a more distinguished man as her baby's father than that weird coworker of hers.

As strange as Dwight is and as cold and crude as Angela can be, it's actually quite touching to watch their relationship form.

Dwight may not be every woman's cup of tea but when he does things that everyone else is rolling their eyes at, Angela can be seen in the corner, secretly smiling to herself. Likewise, while others only see Angela's hard outer shell, Dwight is able to admire her for who she really is beneath the cold exterior.

SHE DIDN'T DESERVE HIM: Dwight Deserves Someone As Compassionate As He Is

Dwight, Angela, Jim and Pam in The Office

Dwight is a genuinely more compassionate and kinder person than Angela ever is or will be. Granted, he is difficult to get along with but at the end of the day, he has friends. Jim and Pam truly love him despite (and maybe in spite of) his faults because he does prove himself as a friend when the going gets tough. The same can't be said for Angela who seems to look out for herself above all else.

This makes fans wish that Dwight would find someone with the potential to be as caring as he can be, even if he can come off as a tad eccentric and unapproachable.

THEY WERE PERFECT: No One Else Could Compare

The fact of the matter is that no one else could ever have made it into either character's heart the way that they did. Dwight and Angela have a special connection between them that viewers catch themselves rooting for, despite how difficult and unlikeable they both can be.

Each makes the other a more enjoyable person which is, after all, a big part of what love should be.
