The Marvels is repeating a risky Monica Rambeau decision from Disney+'s WandaVision. Monica debuted in WandaVision, revealing she was a SWORD agent and the daughter of Captain Marvel's best friend, Maria Rambeau. In the series, the character developed powers after coming into contact with the Scarlet Witch's Hex dome, which was put in place by a grieving Wanda.

The Marvels' cast includes the return of Monica Rambeau actress Teyonah Parris, as well as Ms. Marvel's Iman Vellani and Captain Marvel star Brie Larson. The three heroes will team up in a plot that sees them change places every time they use their powers. The heroes will need to work together to figure out the reason behind their predicament and in doing so, Monica will get a chance to test the limits of the powers she acquired in Phase 4. In at least one way, her story will intersect with what happened to her in WandaVision and how she obtained those abilities.

While this sort of recklessness has the potential to lead to disaster, her behavior might actually be a good thing. In WandaVision, despite having had a huge chance of dying due to walking through Wanda's Hex wall, Monica ended up getting life-changing powers. While dangerous, Monica's decision did work out well for her in the end. And though she may swap places with Kamala by repeating this move, there's no indication that there will be any lasting consequences. It also looks like that decision is what leads to her teaming up with Kamala and Carol in the film, which points to her choice in The Marvels working out in her favor.
