Fans still cannot get enough of The Mandalorian following the mind-blowing season 2 finale. With his mission to help Grogu find his rightful home and protect him, Din Djarin eventually succeeded by taking down Moff Gideon and giving Grogu permission to be with the Jedi. However, it is the surprise appearance of Luke Skywalker that brought even more nostalgia, leaving fans emotional with the overall season.

As fans continue to talk about the beautiful and satisfactory season 2 ending, it is not the end of the series just yet. With the confirmation of a third season coming out in December 2021, season 2 has left viewers with questions. Some of these pertain to the show's content and future. Other questions concern the expanded universe and its connections to the Star Wars saga.

Who Saved Grogu During The Execution Of Order 66?

The Mandalorian Grogu Sleeping

Fans learned several new things about Grogu in just one episode alone, "Chapter 13: The Jedi." After being called Baby Yoda and The Child for a year, his real name was revealed as Grogu. However, more about Grogu's past was learned, which led to the show's current timeline.

Based on the information by Ahsoka Tano, Grogu was training at the Jedi Temple before Anakin Skywalker and his stormtroopers killed and slaughtered all the Jedis, including the Jedi younglings. Grogu survived because someone helped him escape. Unfortunately, the person who saved Grogu remains a mystery, and given the implications of the finale, fans may not know this answer for a long time.

Will Grogu & Din Djarin Reunite Ever Again?

The Mandalorian Finale Baby Yoda Touches Mando's Face

While the finale was exhilarating with the surprise appearance of Luke Skywalker, it was also heartbreaking, with Grogu and Din Djarin going their separate ways. They developed a father-son relationship and became even closer to each other throughout the second season.

Grogu and Din emotionally said their goodbyes, leaving several viewers in tears. It is unclear how often Grogu will appear in season 3 or if he will appear at all since he will be under the training and care of Luke Skywalker. Fans will cross their fingers, hoping that one day Grogu and Din will reunite again.

What Were Gideon's Exact Plans For Using Grogu?

Baby Yoda and Moff Gideon with Darksaber in The Mandalorian

Since the start of the series, everyone was after Grogu, but the reasons were specifically never clarified. However, fans got a partial answer to why Gideon needed Grogu in season 2, episode 4, "Chapter 12: The Siege." Part of the explanation was that Dr. Pershing needed Grogu's blood because it was high on M-count.

Unfortunately, the discussion for his plans ended there, leaving questions as to why they needed Grogu's M-count. One implication could be that Gideon needed Grogu's blood for his interest in becoming Force-sensitive. Another speculation could be that his blood was used to create Supreme Leader Snoke or Palpatine, setting the stage for future events in the sequel trilogy.

Will We Learn More About Cara Dune's Backstory?

Gina Carano in The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale

After starting the series as a mercenary, Cara became a marshal on Nevarro in season 2. As a result, she became a close asset to Din and someone to refer to when needing some favors. However, fans still know little about her backstory.

All viewers know is that she is from the planet Alderaan and worked as a Rebel Alliance shock trooper during the war against the Galactic Empire. Also, she was wanted before meeting Din Djarin, but the reasons were not disclosed. In the season 2 finale, one of the imperial pilots gave a hint regarding Cara’s eye tattoo as he tried to intimidate her. Unfortunately, there are no further details beyond this, which brings to curiosities about her full backstory.

Will Din Djarin Help Bo-Katan Restore Mandalore?

Bo-Katan & Din Djarin

The main storyline with Grogu and the Mandalorian has concluded (for now). However, with Grogu likely out of the picture, what will happen in season 3? Also, what is next for Din Djarin? There are a few possibilities where the plot could go.

Throughout the second season, Bo-Katan was hunting down Moff Gideon to retrieve the Darksaber and rebuild the planet Mandalore. Considering Din Djarin was the one that dethroned Gideon from the Darksaber, and he succeeded in his primary mission with Grogu, the third season may focus on the history of the Mandalorians and attempts to make Mandalore hospitable again.

Will Season 3 Focus On The Tension Between Bo-Katan And Din Djarin?

Bo-Katan, Mando, and the Darksaber in The Mandalorian.

In one way, the attempts of rebuilding Mandalore could be one plotline. On the other, it could see more tension arising. The season 2 finale showed Din Djarin fought and defeated Moff Gideon. Though Din has no intention of taking over as the ruler of Mandalore, things are more complicated about the possession of the Darksaber.

To wield the Darksaber, a person would have to earn it through honorable combat. While Din unintentionally won without knowing the rulebook, Bo-Katan refuses to accept the Darksaber without the proper ways of owning it. While Din will do his best to not get on Bo-Katan's bad side, there may likely be more tension in the upcoming season and a duel between them.

What Does Happen In The Book Of Boba Fett?

Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian Season 2 Finale

One of the most thrilling moments of season 2 was the long-awaited status regarding Boba Fett. After being presumed dead for over three decades, fans were astonished to learn that not only was Boba Fett alive but that he was going to be integral to the Star Wars universe.

In the post-credits of the season 2 finale, Fett and Fennec Shand take out Bib Fortuna at Jabba's Palace, and Fett sits on the throne. It then immediately revealed the title "The Book of Boba Fett," which will release sometime in December 2021. The surprising announcement left fans ecstatic, as it will be another spin-off show on Disney+. This announcement leaves some questions about the direction for Boba Fett and how it will impact the existing storyline in the Star Wars universe.

Is Grogu Alive Considering The Events Of The Sequel Trilogy?

Baby Yoda Kylo Ren Star Wars Adam Driver The Mandalorian

Because Grogu is now in the hands of Luke Skywalker, the series somewhat connects to the Star Wars saga. Based on this timeline, Ben Solo will soon join Luke Skywalker as his Jedi in training, and well, the rest is history. As learned in The Last Jedi, Ben Solo burnt down the Jedi academy and turned to the dark side after Luke tried to murder him.

Fans are now concerned whether Grogu was still at the academy when the destruction occurred, and if so, it likely means the cute little fellow may be dead. While this is only speculation, everyone hopes that Grogu had already left the academy before Ben Solo became Kylo Ren and joined the First Order.

What Will Happen To Moff Gideon?

Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian

With Moff Gideon defeated, the question remains as to how he will play into the show's future. Given the season 2 finale, Giancarlo Esposito revealed that his character would be more significant in season 3. It only brings curiosity with the direction of season 3 and how he continues to be the main villain.

After Cara managed to stop Gideon from killing himself, he is probably under the custody of Bo-Katan. Though Gideon will likely end up in a prison of sorts, he will also be the source of information. Even Cara wanted him alive for some information because he was an ex-ISB officer, which could be crucial for developing season 3.

Will We See More Jedis?

Luke Skywalker Star wars the last jedi Ahsoka Tano

The second season saw more action and character appearances of popular Jedis. After seeing Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker, fans could only wonder if more Jedis will appear in the future.

As indicated in the first season, Mandalorians and Jedis are enemies in a historical context, and perhaps the friendly relationship seen in the series may be temporary. It would be exciting to see more Jedis feature in the series to highlight their complicated relationship. It also leaves a question if Luke Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano could appear once more.
