Katee Sackhoff on The Mandalorian Season 3

The Mandalorian season 3 Bo-Katan

Screen Rant: Katee, I am so excited about this season. This is a family event for me and my household. Bo-Katan has lost everything at this point; her family, her home, and the Darksaber, which represents the hope that she lost. What's her mindset going into season 3, and how does that impact her relationship with Din Djarin?

Katee Sackhoff: Well, I think you hit the nail on the head. I think that she has lost everything. Everything that she thought she wanted, everything that she has fought for so long, is gone. And I think that's where we find her; in this place [that's] almost an "all is lost" moment. I think she's probably questioning everything she's done since the moment we met her over 10 years ago, and the means to which she went about getting to where she's at.

You've played Bo-Katan since the beginning, so you know her painful past and rich history. Will we see that, as well as the in-between time from Clone Wars, Rebels, and The Mandalorian explored in season 3?

Katee Sackhoff: We do get to touch a little bit on her emotional journey this season, which is really fun for me. I love complicated characters, and I think that her backstory is so incredibly rich with complication — a lot by her own design. I think that there is a lot of deep, heavy thought and atonement going on in her mind, potentially.

Last season, Bo-Katan pointed Mando to Ahsoka. This seems to indicate that the two still have a bond. Will we see more of that play out in either The Mandalorian or the Ahsoka spin-off?

Katee Sackhoff: You know, Dave and John really love pulling characters from Clone Wars and crossing them over. They're really enjoying their crossover moments, so... Everything is possible.

What's been the most surprising part of playing Bo-Katan, in terms of her evolution over the years, from doing the voice work to being in the live-action?

Katee Sackhoff: I think her growth, personally. I think if you look at the character from where she started, and you look at her at the end of this season, it's a true arc. I was gonna say something else, but that's a spoiler. [Laughs]

We were close! We almost got it.

Katee Sackhoff: You were so close, and I went, "No!" [Laughs] I think that the the amount of growth that this woman has done is pretty impressive.

How does Bo-Katan feel about other Mandalorian sects, and does she still have ties with her running buddies in the Death Watch?

Katee Sackhoff: We'll see. [Laughs] We'll see. Listen, there's gonna be a lot of Mandalorians this season. That is evident by the trailer, and I think that we know that a lot of these clans have different ideologies. Clashes are bound to happen.

Live-action Mandalore. We're finally getting it. What was it like for you to walk onto set?

Katee Sackhoff: It was amazing! Having only seen it in animation myself to then actually being there on the day and witnessing it on the Volume was really special, but also really tragic. So, we'll see.
