Ming-Na Wen has finally addressed her disappointment over Fennec Shand's disappointing absence in The Mandalorian season 3. Introduced in The Mandalorian season 1 as a former Imperial agent, Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand has become an increasingly important character in the post-Return of the Jedi galaxy. She now works with Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett, and most viewers expected the two former bounty hunters to turn up again in The Mandalorian season 3. That wasn't the case, however, much to Morrison's disappointment.

Speaking to The Movie Dweeb in a recent interview, Ming-Na Wen commented on her own feelings over Shand's absence in The Mandalorian season 3. She also skillfully reframed Morrison's earlier remarks in quite a diplomatic manner.

"Sometimes when you take something out of context, it sounds worse than it is. I think we love our characters so much, that any time we can reprise and be that character - especially someone like me, right, Fennec Shand is my dream role - so of course you're gonna feel disappointed. Like, 'Why didn't they have me put on my outfit and get into the battle with everyone?' So I think that's sort of the disappointment, but at the same time we both totally understand and respect Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni's process and what they need to do in their storytelling.

So it's just - yeah, we're greedy. I know I am, I would love to be in every single Star Wars project at this point from now on!"

Ming-Na Wen's love for Star Wars shines through the whole interview, and is perfectly reflected in these comments as she notes she'd be delighted to turn up in everything Lucasfilm make going forward.

Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand Wasn't In The Mandalorian - But Is In Bad Batch Season 3

Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian.

Ming-Na Wen may not have gotten the chance to reprise the part of Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian season 3, but her Star Wars story is far from over. Footage from Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, shown exclusively at Star Wars Celebration, confirmed she will be voicing the character for the upcoming animated Disney+ TV show. Shand seems to have been set up as one of the common narrative links between Star Wars: The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian era, which surely means it's only a matter of time before she makes a live-action return as well.

Wen refused to be drawn on Shand's return - refusing to even confirm whether she'd read the scripts yet (which, in itself, seems like a subtle confirmation). Hopefully it won't be long before more is revealed, though; her appearance drew an excited response when the footage was released at Star Wars Celebration, suggesting she will be a major draw. Ming-Na wen didn't appear in The Mandalorian season 3, but the actress shouldn't be too disappointed given the exciting future ahead of her.
