With The Mandalorian expected to return for season 3 in late 2022, fans will be beginning to draw up theories on what they expect to see - and what they would like to see in the new season. The live-action Star Wars series was last on screens in late 2020, when viewers saw the titular Mandalorian (played by Pedro Pascal) say goodbye to Grogu to train as a Jedi.

Pascal's character and Grogu have since been reunited in The Book of Boba Fett. Other significant events happened to the Mandalorian, AKA Din Djarin, in the spin-off, most notably his expulsion from his lifelong Mandalorian creed. With these dramatic events occurring, fans will be keen to see the iconic duo meet certain characters once more.

Frog Lady

While perhaps an odd character to want to see return, "Frog Lady" was well-liked by fans for good reason. The nameless female amphibian creature offered great comic relief when Mando was tasked with taking her to her homeworld, as well as the task of ensuring her species doesn't go extinct while she carries the last of her species' eggs, which Grogu thought looked particularly tasty.

The value of Frog Lady is that she served as a reminder of the importance of family to the lone bounty hunter Din Djarin. Her reunion with her husband and the birth of their children underlined to Mando his connection to Grogu above his duties towards the creature as a foundling. A cameo from Frog Lady would be a fun callback - especially if Grogu needs a babysitter.

Cobb Vanth

Cobb Vanth (played by Timothy Olyphant) also appeared in The Book of Boba Fett - and his final scenes in the show left fans unaware of his fate. Following a showdown with Cad Bane, the marshal appeared to have been killed in action as his fellow townspeople fought against the Pike invasion of Mos Espa.

Later, however, Cobb Vanth was seen in a batch tank aided by Boba Fett. It will be interesting to see how the character will act having been resurrected by Fett. Additionally, his character's partnership and chemistry with Din Djarin makes for an entertaining watch, and fans will be keen to see the pair cross paths once again.

Peli Motto

Peli Motto is one of few allies Mando has throughout both his own show and Boba Fett. The plucky engineer has helped Mando find fellow Mandalorians outside of his own creed, as well as helping the notoriously tough bounty hunter look after Grogu with her soft, caring ways.

In Boba Fett, Peli Motto builds and refurbishes an old New Republic X-wing fighter for a reluctant, and later impressed, Mando. Motto's ability to get through to Mando and push him to do things he doesn't want to do, from giving frog aliens a ride to meeting other types of Mandalorians, makes her a character that stands on her own in her abilities.

Omera

Omera only appeared in one episode of The Mandalorian so far, but holds a significant power over Din Djarin. Omera appeared in one of the best Mandalorian episodes, "Sanctuary"where Din makes a connection with a farming village he's protecting from raiders. Omera, a beautiful young widow and mother, shows both Din and Grogu extraordinary kindness when hosting the pair.

In the brief time they interacted, Omera managed something very impressive - she almost convinced Din to remove his helmet which he has worn since he swore the Mandalorian creed, as well as leaving Grogu with her to look after. With their chemistry and Omera's kind heart, it would be intriguing to see Din Djarin interact once more with the young woman who has more influence on him than almost any other human on the show.

Greef Karga

Greef Karga has gone from antagonist to ally in The Mandalorian. The leader of the Guild of bounty hunters, he instructs Mando to hand over Grogu to The Client, an agent of the Empire, before siding with Din in a face-off against Moff Gideon. He is also the source of many of The Mandalorian's funniest quotes.

Karga is a strong ally for Mando to have on his side in his fight against the forces of the Empire. He offers protection against other bounty hunters through his leadership. The character did not appear in the final battle in the season 2 finale nor in Boba Fett, so fans will be keen to see what he's been up to since viewers last saw him.

Bo-Katan Kryze

Bo-Katan Kryze in The Mandalorian, looking ahead, arm outstretched.

Bo-Katan Kryze, just like Ahsoka Tano, started as an animated character before her appearance in The Mandalorian, having first appeared in The Clone Wars series. Unlike Ahsoka, however, Kryze has only appeared in The Mandalorian and not her own or other spin-off shows. In live-action, her character served as an unlikely ally to Mando, as she comes from an opposing creed of Mandalorians.

In The Clone Wars, Bo-Katan plays a more antagonistic role as part of the violent Death Watch movement seeking to assert sovereignty over all of Mandalore. This is a darker characterization compared to her Mandalorian portrayal, and Clone Wars fans would likely welcome an expansion of her live-action character in this way.

Koska Reeves

Koska Reeves, unlike Bo-Katan, has only appeared as a live-action character, making her debut in The Mandalorian. Her participation in a rival Mandalorian creed threw Din Djarin, revealed as a child of the fundamentalist Watch creed, into an existential crisis over his upbringing and religious teachings.

Koska typically sides with Bo-Katan and has helped both her and Din Djarin in the defeat of Moff Gideon in the season 2 finale, but little is known about her character overall. Season 3 would be a prime opportunity to expand on her character as an ally to Din Djarin that could aid him after his departure from The Watch creed during Boba Fett.

Fennec Shand

Fennec Shand looking glum

Fennec Shand (played by Ming-Na Wen) has appeared across multiple Disney Lucasfilm projects, including The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, and Boba Fett - more than any other live-action Star Wars character. She has served as a mercenary to both the Mandalorian and to Boba Fett, but her own background remains mysterious in comparison to these characters.

Fennec has her own moral code that sets her apart from her contemporaries who follow specific doctrines, making her more of an antihero. While being a highly-skilled assassin, her personality is bold and unwavering in a contrasting manner to many stoic Mandalorian characters. Her character is a prime candidate for being given greater depth in a new Mandalorian season, especially given Ming Na-Wen's performances across multiple shows.
