The Legend of Vox Machina brings the first campaign of Critical Role to life. While the role-playing game will always be loved by fans, it's great to be able to see the escapades of Vox Machina come to life onscreen. This includes the fights, which aren't able to be shown very visually in the game.

The series has a fight in practically every episode, and each battle manages to bring something new and exciting to the story. These fights can be exciting, scary, or heartfelt, and it's hard to decide which ones are the most epic.

Vox Machina And Whitestone Rebels Rescue Archibald

Archibald against a Vox Machina background

When Archibald is captured and tortured by the Briarwood's forces, Vox Machina teams up with Archie's fellow rebels to save him. This battle is intricate, as the group separates into two teams, each with their enemies to fight and their own problems to solve.

The fight has its dark moments, with Keyleth watching a rebel's head get beaten in, and No Mercy Percy making another appearance. But it also has its funny moments, from Percy falling out of a window, to the back door being cursed, and Grog finding and losing a barrel of alcohol. The battle is both nerve-wracking and incredibly fun to watch.

Introductory Bar Fight

The legend of Vox Machina title card hangs over the group at a bar fight

This bar fight is the first time viewers see Vox Machina in action, and it is super fun to watch. The group is drunk at a bar, and they get into an argument with another group of mercenaries. This leads to Grog chopping one orc's hand off, and a fight ensues.

The fight shows why so many of these mercenaries are the best characters of The Legend of Vox Machina. Each character gets an introductory moment that shows their fighting ability and personality, including a moment where Percy crashes through a wall, only to fall onto a bed where Scanlan is having a sexual encounter. It's hilarious to watch.

Scanlan Vs Duke Vedmire

Scanlan looks angry on a burning roof in vox machina

Scanlan is often underestimated in terms of fighting ability, so when he breaks into Duke Vedmire's home, defeats all the guards there along with Duke Vedmire, and burns the house to the ground to create a distraction, the fight takes the other characters and the audience by delightful surprise.

This fight allows Scanlan to show people what he can do, and with a variety of potions and Scanlan's hand, he can defeat his opponents in increasingly chaotic ways. The fight is also hilarious of course, as Scanlan makes sure to slip in several dirty jokes throughout the fight, and his lack of battle preparation keeps the fight comedically interesting.

Vox Machina Vs Sylas And Delilah

Sylas Briarwood holds his sword above Pike in Vox Machina

This fight comes early on in the season, and it really shows what formidable foes the Briarwoods are. Vax is immediately taken out of commission by them, and the rest of the group struggles to stay alive. As Delilah and Sylas have different powers, viewers get to see a range of fighting styles as Keyleth and Vex battle Delilah while Grog and Percy battle Sylas.

This fight is also heavily emotional, as Pike's Everlight is damaged, and it is also where Percy's troubled character backstory comes to light, which sets in motion the plot for the rest of the season, and Percy and Pike's character arcs.

Vox Machina Vs Ghouls

This is probably the scariest fight in the whole show, as not only does Vox Machina have to fight without any weapons, the ghouls that they fight are terrifying. They immediately take out the guards in horrifying ways, and each member of the party has to suffer being possessed and ripped apart by the seemingly indestructible monsters.

Thankfully, this fight allows Keyleth a moment to shine, as earlier in the episode she had worried about her ability to prove herself. She can create a miniature sun using magic, which finally makes the ghouls vulnerable to physical attacks. The fight then turns into an epic beatdown, as all of Vox Machina get their own back.

Vox Machina Vs Professor Anders

Professor Anders is an incredibly unlikeable villain, so it's greatly satisfying to watch Percy take him down. The fight begins when Anders slits Cassandra's throat, and Keyleth struggles to keep her alive while Percy goes after the professor. The fight continues to grow direr, as Anders controls statues, and then eventually the rest of Vox Machina with his magic tongue.

It's scary to see the rest of the party fall under his control, but Percy is eventually able to pull off an incredibly cool gunshot, as he fires a bullet that ricochets around the room, eventually shooting Anders' tongue out. No Mercy Percy appears once again, ending the fight in an epic but ominous way.

Vox Machina Vs Orthax

As Percy carries out his quest for revenge against the Briarwoods, the demon Orthax, which managed to possess the gun he made, claims a stronger hold over the gunslinger. This results in Percy becoming maniacal in the final episode of the season, and the rest of Vox Machina have to pull him out of this state while he attempts to kill them as well.

This fight was one of the few things in The Legend Of Vox Machina that were changed from Critical Role, as the benefits of animation allowed the fight to appear much more emotional and metaphysical, as Percy was dragged into his possessed mind and forced to watch the deaths of his family again.

Pike And Vox Machina Vs The Undead

Pike knows how to kick butt, and it's no surprise that her voice actor, Ashley Johnson, also played the iconic and tough Ellie in The Last of Us. Pike's powerful abilities are shown when she returns to Vox Machina after being away for a while, and she returns most epically.

Vox Machina and Whitestone rebels are fighting a horde of undead, and it looks like they might not make it. however, in a flash of lightning, Pike appears, blasting an undead giant in half. She then goes on to decimate other undead, since Clerics are very strong against undead, and she even enchants other weapons so that everyone else can fight just as well.

Vox Machina Vs Brimscythe

While their first fight against Brimscythe doesn't exactly go well, their second battle against him is the first time viewers truly see Vox Machina come together as a team. Each member of the group can use their abilities, as Scanlan uses illusions, Vax slices the dragon's neck, Keyleth uses plants and Percy uses gunfire to bring the dragon down to the ground.

With Pike's help, Vex fires a magic arrow into Brimscythe's neck, which then leads to Grog going on an all-out rage, and clobbering the dragon in a truly epic moment. The music, the animation, and the choreography all come together to make a fantastic battle.

Ziggurat Battle

Keyleth, a red haired druid holds a ball of lightning above her as her eyes glow using her powers in Legend of Vox Machina

Vox Machina's battle against the Briarwoods culminates in the 11th episode of the season, and it is epic by all accounts. The battle gets broken up into miniature fights, with Percy fighting against his charmed sister, Vex fighting a charmed Vax, Pike incredibly going toe to toe with Sylas, and a silenced Scanlan doing everything he can to avoid Delilah's magic.

Keyleth and Grog get taken out of the battle pretty quickly, but when they return, they can defeat Sylas, burning him alive with a sunbeam, which is a culminating moment for Keyleth and her relationship with the Sun Tree. Each battle is emotional and exhilarating, making it truly epic to watch.
