Newly released images from The Last of Us episode 8 introduce David's new survivor community. After leaving Tommy (Gabriel Luna) behind in the protected town of Jackson, Wyoming, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) search a Colorado university for the Fireflies, the last known location of the revolutionary faction's laboratory. The two are subsequently ambushed by an unknown group of raiders leaving Joel severely wounded. Episode 7 sees Ellie haul Joel to a secluded garage in a residential neighborhood and attempt to nurse him back to health.
HBO recently released new images from The Last of Us episode 8 which introduces the upcoming villain David (Scott Shepherd) and his survivor community that was never completely revealed within the original video game.
The images show Ellie cautiously keeping David at a safe distance with Joel's rifle and also tease the return of Troy Baker, the original voice and performance actor who portrayed Joel in the game.
What to Expect from The Last of Us Episode 8
One of the new The Last of Us episode 8 images features David standing before a congregation holding what appears to be a Bible. A banner sporting a biblical expression hangs behind the leader, teasing his expanded role as a preacher. Although David was a major character in the Winter chapter of the video game, his role as a religious leader is a new addition to HBO's adaptation.
Episode 8 appears to pick up shortly after The Last of Us episode 7 with Ellie still caring for Joel who remains bedridden, suffering from the broken baseball bat wound. The episode's tense trailer sees Ellie hunting for food to keep herself and Joel alive. However, with the appearance of David and his group, Ellie must be wary to not reveal Joel's location.
The trailer teased David's motives, possibly wanting to incorporate her into his own community. However, David also states that he is the only one protecting her from certain death as his people want her dead. With the video showing Ellie firing her weapon at his men and one of the community's buildings ablaze, it would seem that the two do not see eye-to-eye. When The Last of Us returns, Ellie must fight off a ruthless new group while keeping Joel alive.
