The Last Airbender: Appa and Other Characters Revealed!

The Last Airbender Trailer #3

Ever since The Last Airbender TV Spot dropped many people have been wondering about this new movie by M. Night Shyamalan. Of course, hardcore fans who follow Avatar: The Last Airbender - the animated series that inspired the movie - have been waiting for this film a long time and rest assured they are tracking every step.

One of the biggest obsessions amongst Airbender fans is how their favorite characters from the show will ended up looking on the big screen. Well, thanks to an event hosted by Nickelodeon and Viacom today, we have some first looks at the characters fans want to see!

The event held to promote the upcoming Last Airbender toy line that was inspired by the movie. We have some glimpses of action figure versions of Aang (Noah Ringer), Prince Zuko (Dev Patel), Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), The Blue Spirit - and everybody's favorite Sky Bison, Appa!

Check out a few of the images I nabbed (sorry they aren't hi-res). Naturally we'll start with Appa and then move on from there:

The Last Airbender phase I toy line will be released on June 1, 2010. Along with some of the figures you see here there will be life-size Aang staffs, kids costumes, costume accessories and two new Airbender manga comics; one manga will be an official adaptation of the movie, the other will serve as a prequel to the movie.

As noted in the photos, there are two sizes of action figures - standard 3.75-inch figures (Appa will be a bit bigger) and a special line of mechanized 10-inch figures for major characters like Aang and Zuko. The toys will be carried by all major stores and distributors, so if you live near a Walmart, Target or K-Mart, you'll be able to get your hands on one come June 1st.

The movie version of The Last Airbender hits theaters on July 2, 2010. However, be on the lookout for an official trailer attached to Percy Jackson & The Lighting Thief, which hits theaters this weekend. We'll be sure to keep you updated here on Screen Rant in the meantime.
