While The Kardashians season 1 is still being released, fans got a preview of the feature event of The Kardashians season 2 this weekend: the wedding of Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker in Italy. The couple has garnered a divisive reaction from fans. Some love the couple and have praised the new punk aesthetic Kourtney has adopted to match Travis, and others see the couple's over-the-top PDA as a mere publicity stunt. So how have the fans reacted to Kourtney's first wedding ceremony?

Since they started dating in early 2021, The Kardashians star and the drummer of pop-punk band Blink-182 have become known for their matching punk aesthetic and their frequent, aggressive PDA at all events, a trait Kravis shares with the couple and close friends, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox. While Kourtney and Travis had an impromptu wedding in Las Vegas in April, that was practice for the event in Italy. Having received their marriage certificate in Santa Barbara last week, the ceremony on Sunday was their true and unique wedding.

Like everything else about Kravis, fans were divided about their wedding. The gothic aesthetic of the ceremony prompted many to draw a connection to the Twilight movies, with the podcast, Chicks in the Office, tweeting and comparing The Kardashian family's ensembles to that of the Voltaire. Other fans, such as Reddit user, Ok-Abbreviations-187, compared the ceremony to the 1996 Romeo and Juliet adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio. However, fans were disappointed with Kourtney's gothic Dolce & Gabbana gown and found it tacky. "Gothic doesn't equal trashy," Reddit user Apart-Bookkeeper8185 commented. Starting from when they arrived in Italy on Friday, fans were flooded with photos of the family's outfits. Kourtney, as the bride, stuck with ensembles connected to the gothic aesthetic she and Travis wanted.

Fans, however, were less than impressed by her outfit choices. "I feel bad because it’s her wedding," BURYMEINLV commented on Reddit, adding, "but whaaaaat are all of these weird outfits that she’s wearing!? I’m so disappointed...It’s like a costume party." While many fans were disappointed with the over-the-top nature of Kourtney's wedding in Italy, the drama and fun were not only on brand for Kravis but also for the family itself. In their Reddit post, highunderachiever pointed out that the family used to be known for "their glam, their excess and their embellishment" when it came to their fashion. Once Kim Kardashian married Kayne West, their fashion changed, and the family styled themselves to fit the Yeezy aesthetic. "...after seeing the videos, it seems like the old family again. It was lively, a bit tacky and everyone just seemed less contrived!" highunderachiever also added.

Whether enjoyed by fans or not, Kourtney and Travis' marriage was appropriately unique for the couple. With the ceremony now over, Kourtney has already taken steps to cement her new status as Travis' wife, such as changing her Instagram bio to Kourtney Kardashian Barker. While fans must wait until The Kardashians season 2 to see all the juicy details of Kourtney's wedding, they can still watch season 1, which is streaming weekly on Hulu.
