The reasoning behind The Hills: New Beginnings star Kaitlynn Carter and Miley Cyrus split is explained. The two decided to amicably split after six-weeks of PDA and living together and remain just friends and the deciding factor for the split has been revealed.
Carter was married to 36-year-old Brody Jenner who joined the original The Hills in its second season. In 2019, nearly 10 years after the original MTV reboots The Hills: New Beginnings, Jenner returned after marrying Carter in a beautiful ceremony in June of 2018. The pair, however, never made their wedding in Indonesia official with a marriage certificate. The Hills reboot painted a picture of their one-year-long "marriage" as fans watched them have conflicting timelines over when they should start a family. In the later episodes of the season, it was revealed that the couple was in a polyamorous relationship, often inviting other women into their bed. The pair have separated earlier and both Carter and Jenner moved on with other people. Jenner is already head-over-heels for his Victoria's Secret model girlfriend, Josie Canseco, as they've recently made their relationship Instagram official.
Carter was photographed in Italy just weeks after her split with Jenner, making out with popstar Cyrus the same day she announced her split with her longtime partner and actor husband Liam Hemsworth. The pictures of Cyrus and The Hills: New Beginnings star pushed Hemsworth to file for divorce officially this time. After their trip to Italy, the two traveled together back to Los Angeles. Then the couple was seen being affectionate backstage during the MTV Video Music Awards after Miley debuted her emotional break-up anthem, "Slide Away," that was rumored to be about her split with Hemsworth. Their fling, that lasted a since August as they supported each other through their breakups with their husbands. It seemed that it was a good match until recently when the two decided to cut their romantic relationship and be just friends again. The reasoning behind the split was finally revealed. According to a source (via People), Miley decided that it was time to focus on herself and her career again.
The source said that although Cyrus' "relationship with Kaitlynn was a happy surprise," she ultimately split from Hemsworth to "focus on herself." The insider said, "Miley was so invested in her relationship with Liam for a long time. She felt her relationship with Kaitlynn was almost moving in that direction, too." According to the source, "She and Kaitlynn spent every day together, and it just wasn’t anything that Miley wanted to continue doing. She wants to focus on her career. It wasn’t an easy decision, but this is ultimately what she wants."
Now that Cyrus and Carter are able to be free of the commitment that serious relationships bring, they will be able to focus soley on themselves and their careers as young single women. The two say the split was amicable and will still remain friends, however, now the pressure of having a romantic relationship will be relieved. Fans will hopefully be able to catch up with Carter in season 2 of The Hills: New Beginnings to see how she's getting on being a single woman again.
