A scene from The Hills season 1 has resurfaced online, and fans are talking about how iconic it is. During the season 1 finale of the series, Lauren Conrad was given the opportunity to go to Paris for the summer. Unfortunately, she had plans to spend the summer in Malibu with her boyfriend, Jason Wahler. She and Jason had a tumultuous relationship which started on Laguna Beach, where Jason kissed his ex-girlfriend in front of Lauren. Ultimately, Lauren chose to stay in California with Jason, but the couple did not make it through and broke up. Lauren's Teen Vogue boss Lisa Love didn't let her forget this.In the resurfaced clip, which fans love reliving, Lisa reminds Lauren of her poor decision. Twitter user @MarlowNYC tweeted the clip captioning it, "one of the most savage scenes in the history of television." Lauren appears disappointed in her decision as she sits next to her coworker Whitney Port who did decide to spend her summer in the French city. Fans couldn't help but laugh at the way Lisa spoke to Lauren, clearly believing the reality star had made a poor choice. One fan defended Lisa saying, "She was just a woman trying to keep another woman from subsidizing her career over a man." Another fan called the scene "brutal," while someone else took Lauren's side, saying she's successful now and shouldn't be judged for a choice she made when she was younger.
The Hills Fans Can't Believe Lauren Chose Jason Over Paris
In the scene, Lauren and Whitney are in Lisa's office, where they're catching up on their summers. The most iconic line from the clip is when Lisa says, "Lauren didn't go to Paris. She's gonna always be known as the girl who didn't go to Paris." Lauren admits to Lisa that she regrets her choice, but luckily, Lauren gets to go to Paris with Whitney in a later season. While there, she meets a French boy who distracts her from rumors that her Los Angeles fling Brody Jenner has a girlfriend. Jason had a horrible reputation on the show but later admitted he struggled with addiction and redeemed himself on The Hills: New Beginnings. He is currently married to Ashley Slack, and they share two children together.
While it was still early into The Hills, the scene remains one of the most iconic. Most fans were furious that Lauren chose Jason over Paris because of how poorly he treated her. Given the opportunity themselves, fans would have chosen Paris because it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and could boost anyone's fashion career. It definitely was one of Lauren's worst decisions on The Hills. Lisa's reaction and how regretful Lauren looked during the scene only made it that much funnier and more memorable.
Lauren's likely tried her best to wipe the experience from her memory. Luckily these days, she's happily married, with two children, and still succeeding in the fashion industry. Lauren can visit Paris anytime she wants with her family. Hopefully, she's even made peace with her choice to spend her summer with Jason and learned to cherish the memories she made, even if the relationship didn't turn out the way she hoped it would. If anything, Lauren taught many The Hills fans to always prioritize their dreams over relationships that aren't working.
