Audrina Patridge returned to the reality television world in The Hills: New Beginnings and she recently revealed that the producers made her kiss Sean Stewart. Fans first met Audrina in The Hills as Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag’s new friend. The young twenty-somethings worked their day jobs and partied at the hottest Los Angeles clubs at night. Fans followed their drama as the friends fought, made up, and dated men that were wrong for them. At the time, Audrina dated bad-boy Justin “Bobby” Brescia, who couldn’t seem able to settle down.

The Hills: New Beginnings debuted in 2019 and fans were reunited with a more mature cast. Audrina had divorced her husband, Corey Bohan, and was now a single mom to their daughter Kirra. Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were still together but married and parents to their son, Gunner. Fans also saw Whitney Portman married to her husband, Tim Rosenman, with whom she shares her son, Sonny. The Hills: New Beginnings went on for three seasons and was canceled by MTV in January.

Fans of The Hills know that while the show isn’t scripted, many of the plotlines are moved along by the producers. Audrina addressed the real vs. fake debate among fans and revealed in a recent Behind the Velvet Ropes with David Yontef podcast, “I went on this date with Sean Stewart and for the show, he’s like, so nice and funny and we had a great time. And then on the show, they kept wanting to take it to another level. And I remember, you know, we were all drinking in San Diego and they, I was pressured to kiss him for all of us in order to get a third season.” Audrina recalled feeling “uncomfortable but kissing Sean anyway to appease the producers. Watching back, she admitted that it looked “forced” and “fake.”

While Audrina shared that she and Sean had a double date with Heidi and Spencer was a lot of fun, she admitted that they didn’t have romantic chemistry. She compared her relationship with Sean to Brody Jenner and Justin, and stated, “You could just tell the difference. Filming things against your will or against what you would naturally do. It’s hard because it comes across on camera.” Audrina touched upon her relationship with Ryan Cabrera, which she said was “real.” However, she shared that having the cameras on them changed the dynamic and she ended things so as not to hurt him.

Audrina reflects on her experience on The Hills in her memoir, Choices: To The Hills and Back Again. While she admitted that much of the drama was enhanced by producers, her issues with her castmates were real. The reality star had reservations about starring in The Hills: New Beginnings, but felt that she had a lot to share with the public about the rocky journey she went through in her personal life. Although The Hills: New Beginnings is over, Audrina stated that she’s happy she was able to share her experiences with fans.
