The popular sitcom The Good Place is coming to an end, and series star Kristen Bell believes the series finale will be both satisfying and also a real gut punch to fans. The show also stars William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, Manny Jacinto, D'Arcy Garden, and comedy legend Ted Danson, known for his time on the sitcom Cheers.

The Good Place is a comedy about Eleanor Shellstrop, a woman who has died and gone to an afterlife known as "the Good Place." The problem is, at least in the first season of The Good PlaceEleanor thinks there has been a mistake and she doesn't belong in there. The show has been praised for its dynamic cast, surprising twists, and heartfelt moments, and also because it manages to address more serious issues involving morality, ethics and personal philosophy in a comedic but respectful way. The Good Place has received several accolades, including both Emmy and Golden Globes nominations.

Kristen Bell weighed in on what she thought about the upcoming series finale, as The Good Place is ending after its fourth season. Bell told Collider in a recent interview that the finale will be very satisfying, so much so fans will hopefully not clamor for a future reboot or revival of the series. Without divulging any details, Bell also said the finale is a "punch to the gut, but it is satisfying and it feels like that’s where the story ends."

Creator Michael Schur had announced back in June season four of The Good Place would be its last. He claimed he want to give the series a proper conclusion, and that 50 episodes is the perfect amount of time to tell a satisfying story. Many fans were disappointed the show will be ending after such a relatively short time on air, but understand why the creators decided to end the show instead of dragging the story on longer past its intended conclusion. Bell claimed the cast feels the same way, saying, "We were all disappointed that the show would be over, but it did feel like the right thing to do."

Michael Schur is responsible for several popular NBC sitcoms to come out in the 2000's and 2010's. Originally a writer on Saturday Night Live and The Office, Schur co-created Parks and Recreation, as well as writing and directing several episodes. He also co-created Brooklyn Nine-Nine alongside Dan Goor, a series which was recently renewed for its eighth season. Like The Good Place, both Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have received several nominations and wins throughout their runs, as well as becoming fan favorites. It is evident Schur's knowledge and passion for comedy has led to some of the best sitcoms in modern television, so fans can be hopeful Schur will provide an adequate ending to The Good Place's beloved story.
