At the beginning of 2020, The Good Place came to an end after four seasons. The final episode was funny, heartwarming, and brought the whole thing to a satisfying conclusion. Each character got to say their final goodbyes to everyone before some of them walked through a magical portal to end their existence.

It's fair to say that most of the major characters were given a fitting send-off. Yet, it's interesting to hear what their exact last words were. Did they get a perfect end quote that summed them up as a character? Or were their final lines pretty random?

Vicky: "They Have To Learn That Acting Is Reacting. And Reacting Is Pre-acting. But Pre-acting? Well, that’s just being."

By the end of the show, Vicky was a part of the joint council of Afterlife Affairs. She helped the likes of Michael, Shawn, and others run the newly reformed afterlife, which brought a great sense of closure to her story.

At a group meeting, Michael mentioned the actors that they use for their tests. Vicky then chimed in as a former Good Place actor to complain about the new breed of performers. She felt they didn't truly appreciate the craft. It was a pretentious piece of dialogue that fit the character perfectly.

Jason: "Chidi, Wait Up."

Initially, Jason seemed to be the first main character to walk through the magical portal, but that turned out not to be the case. He actually waited years for Janet to return - an act that perhaps proved that they were the best couple in the show.

Only after Chidi passed through did Jason reappear to give Janet a necklace and to share one last goodbye with his love. A few heartfelt words later, and he was really ready to go. So, he asked Chidi - who'd already gone through the portal - to hold up as he ran in after him.

Chidi: "I Love You, Too."

Interestingly, Chidi's last words were uttered after the man ceased to exist. That's because his voice could be heard on the video that Eleanor watches later in the episode. It's the one that Mindy St. Claire secretly recorded of the two when they first said they loved each other. So, technically that profession of love was the character's last words in the show.

And they were fitting, not just because they're romantic, but because that video convinced Eleanor to help out Mindy. As Chidi spent the entire show trying to assist others, it was nice to see him indirectly help someone even after he was gone.

Tahani: "It Won’t Be Long, Right, Shawn?"

Unfortunately, Tahani didn't have the most powerful last words. During the finale, she became an intern for the afterlife, hoping one day to design tests and neighborhoods. It was a strong ending for her, but it wasn't the last time she appeared in the episode.

A little later, she showed her face again and offered to create Mindy St. Claire's afterlife test. Although she was not quite certified to do that, she was close, and in her final words, she asked Shawn to confirm that.

Shawn: "Shut Up, Glenn!"

Shawn grew a lot by the end of the series. He started out as a true villain who relished in torturing humans, but by the end, he became a little less evil and helped reform the afterlife.

One thing he still struggled with, though, was not sounding menacing when he talked. In particular, he found it hard to say that Tahani was close to being certified without it sounding like an evil plot. In the end, he gave up and went back to an old reliable by telling off poor Glenn.

Mindy St. Claire: "Thanks For Giving A Crap About Me. I Don’t Give A Crap About Myself, So It’s Nice That Someone Does. I’m Really Glad I Filmed You Having Sex."

Throughout the entire show, Mindy St. Claire lived off the grid and wasn't a part of the afterlife system. Therefore, she wasn't in The Good or Bad place and was all alone - besides the bizarre Derek.

However, in the final episode, Eleanor tried to help change that, and the usually aloof Mindy couldn't help but show gratitude. Then the sweet moment turned comedic when she also became thankful for filming the video that led to Eleanor's help.

Judge: "Y'all Are Annoying, I Mean You Did Save The Universe And All, But Your Tone. It’s Your Tone."

One of the funniest characters in The Good Place was the Judge. The powerful woman was obsessed with human pop culture and would regularly mention TV series that she liked.

However, she wasn't a huge fan of people in general. And this went double for the show's main group as they constantly caused issues for her. In fact, in her final scene, she revealed that even though they saved the universe, she still found them annoying.

Janet: "I Hate To See You Walk Through That Final Door At The Edge Of Existence. But I Love To Watch You Leave."

As an anthropomorphized vessel of knowledge, Janet was the gang's ultimate helper throughout the series and gave them virtually everything they wanted. This was no different in her final moments of the series as she said the exact words that Eleanor wanted to hear.

The line was not a very Janet thing to say as she rarely ever used idioms, colloquialisms, or metaphors. Instead, she spoke in very clear sentences so that everybody could understand. Breaking away from that to deliver this flirty line was a comical way to say goodbye and perfect for her relationship with Eleanor.

Eleanor: "There We Go."

Despite being the show's lead character, Eleanor didn't have a profound final quote or one last hilarious joke. Her final words before ceasing to exist were a simple reply to Janet's "I love to watch you leave" line.

It was a celebration that she finally got Janet to say something so cheesy and flirtatious. And while "there we go" might not be a great quote on its own, it did work well in that moment. In fact, if she'd have said anything more, it would've taken away from Janet's hilarious line.

Michael: "Take It Sleazy."

Michael had a difficult time in the finale. He and his friends did so well at reforming the afterlife that he didn't have much of a purpose anymore. And unlike those around him, he wasn't able to walk through a magical door to end his existence.

Although an alternate option was created; he was able to go down to earth and live like a human, which was among the best endings for any character. Then as the final moments of the show started ticking away, Michael said a line that he'd always wished he could say to a fellow human, "Take It Sleazy."
