Warning: SPOILERS ahead for The Goldbergs season 10, episode 17.

The Goldbergs series finale release date has been revealed by ABC ahead of the show's last batch of episodes. The family comedy created by Adam F. Goldberg sees a fictionalized version of himself as a kid, played by Sean Giambrone, growing up in Philadelphia in the 80s. Season 10 is currently underway, which was confirmed to be The Goldbergs' final season last month.

According to Deadline, The Goldbergs will end with season 10, episode 22, which is set to air on Wednesday, May 3, at 8:30 p.m. EDT. The episode will air on the same night as the series finale of the family drama A Million Little Things, and the season finale of the newer ABC comedy series Not Dead Yet. The series finale of The Goldbergs is not yet titled, but it will end the show's astonishingly long run on ABC.

How Will The Goldbergs End?

With five episodes left until The Goldbergs ends, there is still plenty for the series to explore prior to its impending curtain call. All three of the Goldberg children still live at home with Beverly, which is bound to change with Barry and Erica growing older and having independent aspirations. Season 10 will likely see some children moving out of the house, marking an end to the hijinks the family has been getting up to all these years.

Season 10, episode 16 recently set up Adam's ending with Carmen, with Adam's family enjoying Carmen's company and Adam admitting to her that he loves her. Barry has also seen more major strides in character development, with season 10, episode 17 seeing him drop his usually silly behavior when he realizes Beverly's furniture store could go out of business if his team won a playoff game underhandedly. The maturity displayed by The Goldbergs characters in recent episodes indicates this development is central to how the series ends.

If the children do move out of the house at the end of The Goldbergs, it's possible that audiences will be treated to a flash-forward that sees the kids when they are older. Since The Goldbergs spinoff Schooled took place in the 90s, characters from the show could return in cameo appearances if the flagship series jumps ahead in time. From the most recent episodes of The Goldbergs, it seems the show's series finale on May 3 will be heartfelt and emotional for everyone who has been watching the Goldbergs kids grow up for all these years.
