Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... The Flash supervillain King Shark is returning to Central City in next week's all-new episode. While lately it seems like Barry and the gang have been focused on defeating Zoom and helping Harry save his daughter Jesse, one can't forget there are still plenty of other criminals running around causing trouble. Most of them are metahumans created by Harrison Wells' particle accelerator, but some are from another Earth entirely.
The character of King Shark first appeared in the October episode, 'The Fury of Firestorm,' when Zoom brought the gigantic humanoid shark from Earth-2 to kill The Flash. With superhuman strength, a tough outer covering and regenerative capabilities, The Flash was almost no match for his opponent. However, Harry was able to save Barry by shooting King Shark with an energy gun stolen from Mercury Labs, and then the supervillain's status and location was never mentioned again.
As it turns out, King Shark has been kept prisoner in an A.R.G.U.S. holding tank all this time. Yet when he escapes in next week's episode, he'll have his sights set on Central City again. Arrow's Diggle and his wife Lyla (guest stars David Ramsey and Audrey Marie Anderson) will travel to Central City to warn The Flash, just as the apex predator shows up at the West house and attacks Joe, Iris, Wally, and Barry.
The new trailer for the episode (above) reveals a rather humorous take on next Tuesday's episode, 'King Shark,' including a homage to Steven Spielberg's Jaws, complete with the movie's classic score and logo. King Shark himself is only teased in the promo, but it's safe to say we'll get some good action with the character, despite the season's tight budget.
Other than the reappearance of King Shark, next week's episode will be important for another reason: It'll be the first time Diggle crosses over to The Flash without Oliver Queen, and the first time Lyla appears on the show. While Diggle has guest starred on the series twice already, it's always been opposite the Green Arrow. It should be interesting to see Diggle's character interact with The Flash cast sans Oliver. Hopefully, only bigger things are ahead for him.
Another big item that might come up in Tuesday's episode is Diggle getting a helmet update, courtesy of the S.T.A.R. Lab's crew. Ramsey recently teased that "Central City will be working on an upgrade to Diggle's helmet." While he didn't say when the new helmet would appear, chances are it'll happen in this episode.
The Flash airs Tuesdays @8pm on The CW. Arrow airs Wednesdays @8pm on The CW. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays @8pm on The CW.
