The Family Chantel always has spicy drama because of the union between the Everett and Jimeno family. During the second season, viewers gained insight into Nicole Jimeno and Alejandro Padron’s blossoming romance. Lidia Jimeno, Nicole’s mom, wasn’t fond of Alejandro at all, but why?
The second season of The Family Chantel focused on other members of the Everett Jimeno family as opposed to just Pedro Jimeno and Chantel Everett. One of the people viewers got more insight into was Nicole, Pedro’s sister. At the beginning of the season, Nicole revealed she had a boyfriend, Alejandro Padron. Like Jimeno, Padron is originally from the Dominican Republic. Since Nicole lives in Atlanta and Alejandro lives in New York City, the couple is in a long distance relationship. In the new season, Alejandro meets Pedro and Lidia, but they aren’t fond of him. During the final episodes of the second season, Alejandro goes to the annual Carnival with Nicole. He offers her a promise ring and she accepts it. They are not formally engaged because Alejandro is still married to his estranged wife, but they made a commitment to one another. Upon accepting the ring, Nicole says she wants Lidia and Pedro “to see how beautiful” their relationship is.
When Lidia first found out Nicole had a boyfriend, she didn’t take the news too well. Then, when Alejandro visits Lidia for the first time, she kicks him out of her house. Keep in mind that this all happened before Nicole revealed that Alejandro is still married. When Lidia found out, she was immediately reminded of her history with Pedro and Nicole’s father. “You know, wait, wait, wait, but you know, I told you. He’s a dirtbag,” Lidia said upon finding out Alejandro’s marital status. Lidia’s husband started a family with someone else while still being married to her, according to Pedro. She was left on her own with two children. Obviously, the fact that Alejandro is still married is a major red flag for Lidia given her past. At one point, she insinuated that Alejandro is hiding children.
The Jimeno Everett family appears to be in the constant throws of drama. Although, that doesn’t make it easy for Nicole to continue her new relationship without her mother’s approval. “I think there have been a lot of complexities during the trip that we weren’t expecting, but I think that nothing in life is perfect,” Alejandro said while presenting the promise ring to Nicole. “For example, that I am married. But, I love you and I am willing to fight a lot for you and our relationship. And I really want to demonstrate all the love I have for you and what you mean to me.” Nicole accepted the ring despite the fact that there’s still tension between Alejandro and her family.
Nicole and Alejandro are definitely having a classic affair of young love. Their commitment to each other means so much, yet so little. The fact that her family isn’t fully onboard with their relationship is a pretty clear signal that marriage might not work for this couple of The Family Chantel.
