The reboot of The Crow is finally taking flight, with filming set to begin over the summer in central Europe. After several failed attempts at rebooting the 1994 cult classic directed by Alex Proyas, original producer Edward R. Pressman assembled the final foundation of a new cast. Bill Skarsgård will play the central antihero, Eric Draven, accompanied by British singer-actress FKA twigs under the guidance of Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. While other upstart productions had big names attached to them and the desire to make the movie, none have been able to take the next step until now.

Deadline reports that the reimagining of The Crow will get underway in summer 2022. The cast and crew will film in Prague and various unspecified locations in Germany. Before principal photography, the film's international finance representatives FilmNation Entertainment will shop it at the Cannes market opening next week.

Getting a camera team in front of a cast for The Crow has been more challenging than expected, with director Corin Hardy's attempt at a reboot alongside Aquaman star Jason Momoa coming closest. With this announcement, fans can rejoice that Sanders' project could finally bring a modern Crow film to life, much like its undead protagonist. Speaking of which, Skarsgård will have to work hard to establish himself as a worthy successor to the enviable legacy of the late Brandon Lee, who played Draven in the 1994 film. The prospect of an old-world European set could, at the very least, reinforce his performance with the appropriate gothic ambiance that a Crow reimagining deserves.
