'The Crazies' Trailer

No longer merely a punk band made up exclusively of my ex-girlfriends, Breck Eisner has remade the 1973 George Romero film, The Crazies. The movie follows the inhabitants of a sleepy lil' Iowa town who go crazy and die. Why? You'll have to watch the film to find out (or at least the original).

The Crazies stars Timothy Olyphant (Hitman) Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) and Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th). George Romero, the director of the 1973 original, also brought the world the much-celebrated horror classic, Night of the Living Dead and all its subsequent sequels.

The folks over at FilmDrunk have pointed us to the trailer of The Crazies remake. Take a looksie:

Breck Eisner (who must be very tired of always seeing parenthetical references to his father, former Disney CEO Michael Eisner), claims the dubious honor of having directed Sahara, a movie that lost between $78MM and $105MM, depending on who you ask. He's also directed high-profile commercials for the likes of Budweiser, Sony and Rold Gold Pretzels, and picked up a couple "Best Ad" nods in Adweek for some anti-smoking PSAs he did for the California Department of Health Services. He's also rumored to be helming the upcoming Flash Gordon remake.

So why remake what was generally considered one of the less awesome films by an influential director?  Whyyyyyy?????? (Sarcasm alert!)

The Crazies will stare us in the face with menacing, soulless eyes from movie screens everywhere February 26, 2010.
