New details have dropped about the upcoming plotline on The Conners season 5. The Conners is the latest addition to the Roseanne franchise, which originated with the popular ABC series starring Roseanne Barr and ran for 9 seasons from 1988 through 1997. The show centered on a blue-collar family and their triumphs and struggles, with Barr's character Roseanne Conner in the middle of it all. The show was rebooted for season 10 in 2018, but Barr was subsequently fired for controversial comments on Twitter, forcing the network to retool the series without her. Newly rebranded with Roseanne's character sidelined after an offscreen death, the show was reborn as The Conners and premiered the following October, running for an additional four seasons with a fifth on the way.

Season 4 of The Conners was a wild ride for the family, which still includes John Goodman as Dan, Sara Gilbert as Darlene, Lecy Goranson as Becky, Michael Fishman as D.J., Emma Kenney as Harris, Ames McNamara as Mark, Jayden Rey as Mary, and Laurie Metcalf as Aunt Jackie. Harris, the daughter of Darlene, just broke things off with her fiance Aldo (Tony Cavalero). However, the romance was flowing for Darlene and Jackie, who got married to their respective partners, Ben (Jay R. Ferguson) and Neville (Nat Faxon) in an extravagant double wedding.

TVLine sat down for a Q&A about the new season of The Conners with executive producers Bruce Helford and Dave Caplan. Although they obviously couldn't give away any major spoilers, they did share some new details about the storylines audiences will be able to expect. Helford revealed that the pot will be stirred when Harris decides to move in with Dan and Louise rather than her mother, and while that won't be the whole season's arc (there are "maybe some honeymoons"), it will be the focus going into the premiere. Read the full quote below:

Harris is going to decide — and this is not really a spoiler — she’s going to decide to live with Dan and Louise and not with her mom, which is going to make for some interesting [stories].

We’re not going to spend a whole season watching that house be built, but there’s a lot to come. Maybe some honeymoons…

Harris Season 4 Conners Realizes Aldo

Considering the fact that it's a sitcom and most extended plot lines don't run beyond a few episodes, it makes sense that the Harris situation will not take place across the entire season. However, it's unclear where the character will end up by the end of the season. She needs to live somewhere, and while the natural conclusion might just be her returning to live with her mother and her new stepdad, she may also meet a new love interest to sweep her off her feet.

With so much romance in the air on The Conners, however, it makes sense if not every character is getting the wedding they dreamed of. Harris is no longer on level romantic footing with Darlene and Jackie. This could certainly lead to some very interesting comic situations going forward, especially if she does move back into her home under such vastly different circumstances.
