The premiere of The Challenge USA will kick off a clash between some of the greatest CBS reality competitors, and Survivor star Domenick Abbate is one of the familiar faces set for battle. The inaugural season of The Challenge USA will see the MTV and Paramount+ format kick off its CBS iteration by pitting a number of the network's reality alumni against one another. The show's cast features former contestants on CBS reality hits The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Love Island, and Survivor.

Domenick, a 43-year-old construction supervisor, is one of several former Survivor players set to appear on The Challenge USA. Joining him will be Survivor winners Tyson Apostol, Ben Driebergen, and Sarah Lacina, all of whom competed on Survivor: Winners at War in 2020. Additionally, Survivor 41's Danny McCray and Shantel "Shan" Smith will be part of the cast, as will Cagayan and Cambodia standout Tasha Fox and season 35's Desi Williams.

Though he never won Survivor, Domenick is arguably one of the biggest names on the Challenge USA cast, along with Tyson, Sarah, and Big Brother 23 winner Xavier Prather. Domenick is easily one of the most prominent stars of the modern era of Survivor. He played the game in 2018 as part of the show's 36th season, Survivor: Ghost Island, and despite the season not being one of the series' most celebrated, Domenick's impact on the game was undeniable. Along with his alliance partner Wendell Holland, Domenick absolutely dominated the entire game, running the strategy and decimating his opponents as he and Wendell marched to the finish. Domenick and Wendell made it to the Final Three with their ally Laurel Johnson, who was viewed as a goat by the jury. In a legendary conclusion, the final jury vote ended in a tie between Domenick and Wendell, a Survivor first. Laurel, who received no votes, was then charged with deciding the winner, and she chose to award Wendell with the million-dollar prize.

Domenick came closer to winning the game than any losing Survivor finalist in the history of the show. As such, he is considered among the best Survivor players to never win and one of the best one-time players ever. He has yet to return to Survivor, as there hasn't been a returning player season since Ghost Island other than Winners at War, for which he was ineligible. He's practically a lock for the next Second Chance or All-Star season, so it's no surprise that CBS contacted him about appearing on The Challenge.

It'll be interesting to see how Domenick adjusts to The Challenge USA. He certainly held his own as a physical competitor on his Survivor season, but his Survivor legacy has primarily been focused on his reputation as a mastermind strategist and social manipulator. He might have a few connections to some of his fellow Challenge competitors heading into the season, especially since his good friend Wendell recently played on Survivor: Winners at War with Tyson, Sarah, and Ben, but only time will tell how Domenick fares once the competition gets rolling.
