Fessy Shafaat started The Challenge: Double Agents as a fan-favorite and ended the season as public enemy number one, with viewers blasting him for seemingly gaslighting his teammate Kaycee Clark and blaming their loss on her during the finale. It was during the final run when Fessy's poor sportsmanship shined through following Kaycee's knee injury.

The odds appeared to be going in Fessy's favor leading up to the finals. He and Kaycee maintained a successful alliance over the course of the season due to them both being Big Brother alums. When it came time for the final run on The Challenge: Double Agents, Fessy decided to throw himself into elimination so that he could drop Amber Borzotra as his teammate and replace her with Kaycee. Despite Amber's hurt over being betrayed, Fessy and Kaycee's plan worked. They were in the lead when Kaycee made a wrong step that injured her knee, forcing them to stop. As a result, they ended up in the last place, which upset Fessy and led to him throwing the rest of the challenge. While many fans place blame on both of them, Fessy claimed otherwise during his confessional. "We were in the lead and then coming down the mountain seeing her fall,” he said.

A viewer on Reddit accused Fessy of "gaslighting Kaycee." After Kaycee's injury, the next phase of the finals was the eating challenge where Fessy refused to eat his share of their portion. Kaycee tried the best she could, while Fessy sat down and sulked over their fateful loss. TJ tried to motivate Fessy to at least finish what he could. But they took too long and were eliminated. The viewer added, "Yet he wouldn’t eat a thing. He didn’t try at all." The Challenge: Double Agents viewers and cast members were completely turned off by Fessy's bratty behavior. The Redditor continued to blast Fessy for making Kaycee "feel like it was her fault." They went on to note that "if he really wanted to compete he would have pushed hard until the very end." Others joined the thread to call out Fessy's lack of determination in the finals. With another season in the works, Fessy has the chance to come back and redeem himself on The Challenge. But he'll have more weight on his shoulders and eyes on his back after his behavior on Double Agents.

Many of his castmates had a lot to say about him behind his back and during The Challenge: Double Agents reunion show. Not only was he called out for his horrible loss, but his snarky remarks on Instagram were also replayed and showed him talking about being better than everyone else. It only fueled more hatred for his role on the show. But fans can't deny that it makes for good TV.
