The Challenge: Double Agents is back with an all new way to play the game. Fans have been sent into a loophole trying to figure out which players are in the lead or on the chopping block to get sent home. With the new Double Agent and Free Agent titles, contestants' alliances are being put to the test.

MTV fans have watched rookies and vets show off their physical abilities, or lack thereof, in seasons and spin-offs of The Challenge. This season contestants are put to the test in a number of competitive obstacles in hopes of winning the $1 million grand prize. Contestants include a mash-up of familiar faces from reality shows from the past and today. Alumni from The Real World, Road Rules, The Challenge, Are You the One?, Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother, Love Island UK, The Amazing Race, Survivor, Geordie Shore, Ex on the Beach, Shipwrecked, America's Got Talent, WWE NXT, and Ultimate Beastmaster are put into a home together and only let out when it's time to compete. Amid hookups, breakups, and shouting matches, viewers are entertained by who shows off their ability to win a challenge and snag their Double Agent status.

While other seasons have been formatted with the winning team voting in the loser of their choice to go into the elimination round, this time around things are a lot different. With Double Agents, each team competes together in the day's challenge, as noted by Fandom. The winning team is safe from "The Crater" or elimination and granted the "Double Agents" of the week. As Double Agents, they get to see who got voted into elimination and which contestants voted for who. The information the Double Agents hold could help the Free Agents in forming or breaking alliances, as well as causing drama in the house. The Crater elimination is played by gender with the Double Agents having the power to into The Crater themselves and compete for a gold skull or throw someone else in to go against the person voted in. Only those with skulls will be able to compete in the final for a chance of winning the $1 million.

The winner of the elimination round earns a Gold Skull that qualifies them to run in the Final. They then get three choices on selecting their next partner. They can either choose to remain with their current partner, choose a Rogue Agent (those left without a partner), or choose another's player's teammate. The decisions make way for some dramatic reactions from the teams and leave viewers on the edge of their seats waiting to see what the player will decide. Friendships have already been broken and players have gotten stabbed in the back by teammates they thought they could trust.

But, that's what fans have grown to love about The Challenge. Alliances seem to fade and competition tends to get the best of everyone.
