It goes without saying that when the topic of recent popular TV shows comes up, it's only a matter of time before The Boys is mentioned in some capacity or the other. After all, the fact of the matter is that this Amazon Prime exclusive has completely captured the attention of fans all over the globe with its unique-yet-familiar plot, which serves as an excellent parody of the prevalence of superheroes in the mainstream, and of modern culture in general.

One of the major reasons why The Boys is so insanely popular is due to its cast, each of whom shines in their own unique manner. Out of all these characters, it must be said that Mother's Milk is certainly one of the more interesting members of The Boys. He might seem fairly innocuous for the most part, but there are actually several unique things about his character that most people have simply failed to notice.

He Injects Himself With Compound V In The Comics

Compound V in The Boys

One of the biggest differences between the comics and the TV show of The Boys is the fact that all the members of this group end up taking Compound V at some point in order to fight on equal ground against The Seven and other Supes.

This is not the case in the TV show, where Mother's Milk and the rest of The Boys need to think on their feet and fight as normal people against these superpowered monstrosities.

His Hatred Against Superheroes Comes From A Rather Grim Place In The Comics

While the motivations of Mother's Milk are pretty cut-and-dry in the TV show, the same can't be said for his story in the comics, which is darker to quite an extent.

In the comics, Mother's Milk actually has a brother with a mental handicap, who dies when the Compound V in his body reacts to him wearing a helmet. This sends his father spiraling into depression, and he dies soon afterward too. So, it would be fair to say that Mother's Milk is a bit more peeved off when it comes to superheroes in the comics rather than the books.

His Family Is Quite Messed Up In The Comics

We've already talked about the comic version of M.M.'s backstory, but there's actually more to it involving his family... and none of it is good.

M.M.'s divorced from his ex-wife, who just so happens to be a drug addict. If that wasn't bad enough as is, his daughter's not exactly the poster child for good behavior, engaging in a lot of sleazy activities as well.

His Military Background Changes Based On What's More Convenient

While The Boys is fairly consistent with its details, for the most part, there are times when mistakes and inconsistencies tend to slip through the cracks.

This is exactly what happens in the case of Mother's Milk, who either has the background of a marine or a medic depending on what suits the needs of the story. Given the fact that there's nothing like a Marine Medic, it's clear that the writers goofed up slightly here.

He's An Episcopalian Christian

A rather obtuse fact that most people won't even realize about Mother's Milk is the fact that he probably has the most unique beliefs when it comes to his religion.

According to the comics, he's supposed to be an Episcopalian Christian, which honestly seems like the most trivial detail that one could add for a character.

His Morals Are Quite Strong And Admirable

That being said, one can't deny that M.M certainly has one of the strongest moral compasses in the entire series.

In fact, one might argue that he might even trump the innocent Hughie in this regard. This statement feels more truthful when one realizes that...

He's The Most Vocal Member Of The Boys

The Boys

Mother's Milk might not be the leader of the group, but he certainly has the ability to make his voice heard and dispel any doubts that might be plaguing the members at any point.

Given the fact that Butcher tends to be a bit of a loose cannon, it's a good thing that there's a rational member of The Boys that can address him directly if he ends up crossing the line.

His Dynamic With Frenchie Is Certainly Quite Interesting

Speaking of the members of The Boys, one has to notice the unique dynamic shared by Mother's Milk and Frenchie. While the former prefers things to go by plan and without any violence, Frenchie is almost the complete opposite — the man regularly goes off-the-rails during most operations, which does admittedly lead to more entertaining sequences.

This unique Yin-Yang dynamic shared by M.M. and Frenchie makes their interactions a must-watch throughout the series.

He Might Have OCD

One thing to notice about M.M. is his obsessive nature to keep things clean and organized, to the point where Frenchie can pretty much manipulate him by exploiting this character trait.

In fact, Starlight even goes so far as to call out in OCD when on a road trip, due to the somewhat insufferable nature of his actions.

He Was Supposed To Bite The "Love Sausage" That Was Strangling Him

Love Sausage in The Boys

One of the most memorable scenes in Season 2 has to be when The Boys end up breaking into Sage Grove Center and end up trapped in a room when the deranged experimental Supes end up going on a warpath.

During this skirmish, M.M. gets strangled by a rather long piece of meat, whacking this monstrosity and killing the person who was responsible for this strangulation... only for it to be Love Sausage — a Supe with a rather massive power in his pants. Initial drafts of this scene had a grotesque moment when Mother's Milk would end up biting this Love Sausage — a scene that thankfully doesn't exist.
