Being the first superhero, it was only inevitable that Superman would inspire hundreds of superheroes into existence. As time went on, the blue boy scout's powers have been given to mutants, mild-mannered nerds, teenage boys, and even beagles with funny capes.

In today's media though, Homelander is arguably at the top of the popularity polls. The "evil Superman" trope has been played out before, but Homelander encapsulates the concept in The Boys. Still, "Not Supermans" from other movies and TV shows prove they're no pushover to Homelander.

Underdog

Yes, Underdog. While the quality of the movie itself is "questionable" at best, it does pull off some shocking feats for the main canine hero. After a science experiment goes awry, a normal beagle suddenly gets amazing Superman-like powers such as flight and super strength, resulting in a dog that's more powerful than most of the superheroes in the DCEU and MCU.

Underdog is surprisingly even with Homelander in terms of speed and strength. Both are able to reach Mach speeds that surpass the sound barrier, and their strength allows them to go through thick concrete without a scratch. The one feat that Underdog has over Homelander is the ability to survive re-entry from space, a feat yet not done by Homelander in the show.

The Utopian

Jupiter Legacy Utopian Bleeding

The Utopian is Jupiter's Legacy's Expy for Superman, particularly a much older and jaded version of the character. In fact, many comic book fans noted the similarities of the Utopian and Kingdom Come Superman.  With that age, also comes years upon years of experience.

While the show's version of The Utopian is significantly weaker than his comic book counterpart, he's still strong enough to fight Homelanders of his own. For years as well, which can't be said for Homelander, who has never had to fight anybody near his level of power. The Utopian's only loss in this fight would likely be the failure to convert Homelander to the side of good.

Shazam

Shazam dancing in an empty construction site

The DCEU has two "Supermans" now, and Shazam is more than happy to be compared to the iconic hero. Deservedly so too, because his powers are impressive for a newbie hero and he's more than earned his place with one of the best films of the DCEU.  Like Homelander, Shazam is a bit immature and simple in the usage of his powers.

Unlike Homelander, Shazam has actually fought villains on his level of strength. Not to mention, he's much faster, reaching hypersonic speeds by taking Sivana to the stratosphere. Homelander also hasn't faced a shock quite like Zeus' lightning. Both might be "manchildren", but Shazam wins out with proven experience and superior speed.

Superian

Superian talking to hosts

Before The Boys and Invincible was deconstructing superheroes, The Tick was already parodying them mercilessly. When your series is based on an absurd cartoon, expect the powers to be much the same. The Tick's Expy for Superman here is name, lazily so, "Superian", whose disguise might be even more razor-thin than Clark Kent's.

Superian is practically Superman, even moreso than any other hero on this list. Flight, super strength, laser vision, and even freeze breath. Not to mention, he's also practically immortal and is said to be hundreds of years old despite looking to be in his 30s. Like Homelander, Superian is incredibly vain and petty, but unlike Homelander, Superian is a big fish in an absurdly big pond.

All Might

All Might throwing a punch in My Hero Academia

All Might might not have laser vision, ice breath, x-ray vision, or even Superman's iconic flight. What he does have is the bare essentials of what makes the Man of Tomorrow such an icon: incredible strength and an uplifting smile. All Might's powerful strength alone is enough against Homelander's tantrums.

All Might, even during his weakened state, is capable of punching heavy hitters far into space, and clear out clouds in the process. While he doesn't have flight, he doesn't need it, as he can leap across entire cities with a single jump, and land without hurting. Homelander stands counter to everything All Might stands for. Thankfully, he won't be standing for long against the Symbol of Peace.

Hancock

Will Smith looks up at the sky in Hancock

Hancock is similarly placed in a "grounded" universe, much like The Boys is. The world tends to crumble whenever Hancock decides to go out and "'save" people. Hancock establishes just how absurdly out of depth humanity is when up against Superman like beings, regardless of how drunk and homeless they may be.

Unlike Homelander, however, Hancock is on a whole other level of powerful. His takeoffs, unlike Homelander, send shockwaves so strong it shatters the street below him. Hancock also casually flies to the moon, and kicks off so hard it leaves a new crater on it. In a fight, Hancock would probably just slap Homelander into the next continent.

Hyperion

hyperion boasting to the avengers

Hyperion in Avengers Assemble acts as a very clear parody of Superman.  Hyperion is even part of his own version of the Justice League, called the "Squadron Supreme".  Unfortunately, Hyperion is less a hero and more a tyrannical dictator, something the Avengers catch on to very quickly.

Hyperion would manhandle Homelander without a second thought. Being able to knock around heavy hitters like Thor and Hulk, two heroes who could solo the universe of  "The Boys", Homelander lacks the experience or strength to keep up. There's always a bigger fish, and as far as Hyperion goes, he's a shark to Homelander's goldfish.

The Ghost

the ghost doctor who staring at villains

Doctor Who doesn't usually dabble in the cape stuff, but Grant Gordon is an exception. In the episode "The Return of Doctor Mysterio" Santa Claus gives young child Grant a cosmic power gem, which he mistakes for medicine and eats. In doing so, the gem bonded with his DNA and gave him reality-warping superpowers. However, it manifested itself according to Grant's psyche, and so he gained the superpowers he always read about in comics.

Taking on the moniker of "The Ghost", Grant Gordon managed to lift the Eiffel Tower while flying, snap his fingers so hard that it breaks glass designed to withstand nuclear blasts, and fast enough to reach France from New York in mere seconds.  In contrast, Homelander complaining about lifting a plane seems pathetic.

Omni-Man

Omni-Man flying in Invincible.

Invincible is The Boys' sister show on Amazon Prime, but their evil Superman is far, far more impressive.  Viltrumites are built so different that they can withstand missiles, buildings and even mountains without flinching. Omni-Man is among the strongest of this absurdly strong race.

Omni-Man manages to defeat his own version of the Justice League and destroy an entire planet by simply flying really fast, fast enough to generate massive explosions. For those who want to see what a fight between Homelander and Omni-Man would look like, they need only watch the final episode of Invincible S1.

Metro Man

Metro Man from Megamind flying through the air

Metro Man is about as Superman as one can get without actually calling him Superman. Sent to Earth from a dying planet, the only difference is that Metro Man lands in the mansion of a rich couple instead of a simple farmhouse. The change of setting did little to curb his motivation for superhero work, however.

Metro Man has the usual assortment of flying brick powers, but his most impressive feat is moving at such a speed that time seems to stand still. This is faster than any other hero disussed so far. The most important quality that makes Metro Man better than Homelander, however, is that he realized he doesn't need anybody to make him feel validated. Self esteem goes a long way in gaining strength.
