In The Boys season 3 trailer, an unhinged Homelander (Anthony Starr) is only seen directly physically intimidating one character. At the end of season 2, Homelander has made every other character on the show his enemy, from Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) to Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligot). Even Vought sees Homelander as a liability after Homelander kidnaps his son. However, in The Boys season 3 trailer, Homelander is only seen threatening A-Train (Jessie Usher) physically and not any other characters.

A-Train’s complicated history with Homelander began in The Boys season 1 when A-Train delivered compound V to terrorist organizations all over the globe under Homelander’s orders. A-Train even killed his girlfriend Popclaw (Brittany Allen) in order to protect himself and Homelander. Then after taking excessive amounts of compound V to keep his status as the fastest man alive, A-Train suffered a heart attack and became comatose. In The Boys season 2, after A-Train awakened, Homelander had him thrown out of the Seven because of his heart condition. In retaliation, A-Train joined The Church of the Collective and then leaked the information on Stormfront's (Aya Cash) Nazi affiliations to Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Annie (Erin Moriarty) to win back his spot in The Seven.

In The Boys season 3 trailer, A-Train is seen both at his most confident and then in his greatest danger. At first, A-Train appears dancing in front of a crowd of cheering fans, but then Homelander grabs A-Train and physically threatens him with his laser vision. This tense moment is the only time in the trailer we see Homelander physically confront anyone since The Boys season 2, which implies A-Train will be the first person Homelander attacks in The Boys season 3. Homelander's motivation for this is revealed through the pair's history together as well as the fact that A-Train was also responsible for the downfall of Homelander’s lover Stormfront. Since A-Train stole Vought’s files and delivered them to Hughie and Annie, he was ultimately the reason the public knows about Stormfront's Nazi ties. Thus A-Train ruined Stormfront's public image and severely damaged Homelander’s public image in the process. There is nothing Homelander values more than his reputation, so A-Train not only threatened Homelander’s ego and Homelander’s relationship with Stormfront, but he also threatened the thing Homelander loves the most: his popularity.

Homelander and A-Train

Homelander attacking A-Train first out of all the characters was also foreshadowed by his actions in The Boys season 2 finale when A-Train further wounded Homelander’s fragile ego. Homelander saw A-Train as a lackey in The Boys season 1 and used him to get what he wanted. Then in The Boys season 2, Homelander tried to fire A-Train from The Seven once he ceased being useful to him, showing he truly saw A-Train as disposable. The fact that Homelander was partially defeated by A-Train who he saw as inferior threatens Homelander’s ego in such a way that will make him attack A-Train the first chance he gets.

Homelander made plenty of enemies at the end of The Boys season 2, so A-Train is certainly not the only person on Homelander’s enemies list (Billy Butcher and Starlight for example). With the introduction of characters like Soldier Boy in The Boys season 3, Homelander's enemies list is only going to get even longer. However, A-Train is the only person in The Boys season 3 trailer who is physically confronted by Homelander. Given A-Train’s history with Homelander and the fact that he helped the Boys defeat Homelander and Stormfront, even the fastest man alive might not be able to outrun Homelander’s wrath in The Boys season 3.
