The Boys returns for season 3 on June 3rd. After the trailer dropped this week, fans have become even more excited for the upcoming season. The show is packed with brutal fights and explosive action, but it also has nuanced writing, intriguing characters, and profanity-laden dialogue.

As fans wait for the new episodes to come out next week, there are quite a bit of juicy lines to ruminate on that both entertain and offer insight into the storylines coming up this season. The characters seem to operate on varying levels of self-aware to delusional, and this range can be seen in their dialogue. These lines tell viewers details about the characters themselves and where the show is heading now.

Waxing Poetic/Foreshadowing

"Out Of Crisis Comes Change." — Homelander

The trailer starts out with Homelander doing damage control on the news and morning shows. He's trying to fix his public image, but he makes some statements that resonate with the storyline.

Even though his lines sound like they were written by a PR manager, he actually says some things that could be foreshadowing the plot for this season. Out of crisis comes change - but whether this crisis is caused by Homelander and the other malevolent Supes, and the change is the downfall of the heroes, or maybe even Vought, has fans speculating.

The Hierarchy Of Power

"But Real Power...Is The Ability To Bend The World To Your Will." — Stan Edgar

The CEO of Vought, Stan Edgar, is a primary antagonist of the series. Since it was revealed that Vought is the one creating all the Supes, the corporation is actually the most dangerous aspect of the show. The Supes have powers but they can be discarded and replaced.

Vought is in control of so much, that taking them down would be like pulling the tree out from the roots, insuring no more Supes can be created. Even though some Supes are heroes, Edgar reminds Starlight that Vought is actually the most powerful adversary on the show.

Maeve Has A Fun Weapon

"Maybe We Can Use It To Blow Homelander's F***ing Brains Out." — Queen Maeve

For the past 2 seasons, Homelander has been the main antagonist of The Boys. Vought might own Homelander, but they are also under the constant challenge of keeping him under control. Even the other members of The Seven are terrified of him.

At this point, Maeve is trying to take him down too. She's got a temporary compound V Supe serum that she offers to Butcher. Whether or not they achieve this goal, the tenacious attitude is fun and necessary if they want to be able to challenge the most powerful being in the show.

Mallory's Take On Butcher's Character

"Or Maybe You're Not Such An A**hole." — Grace Mallory

Mallory is recapping Butcher's behavior over the past year. In this, viewers are made aware that he's stopped trying to kill Supes, stopped drinking, and has been taking orders from Hughie without knocking him out. All of this is very out of character for Butcher.

It should be acknowledged that he has been grieving since he lost his wife last season. But Mallory believes that maybe the old Butcher is refined. Butcher is quick to remind her that was the worst thing she could have said to him. After all, being a jerk is his strongest character trait.

 Hughie's Realization

"It's All Rigged." — Hughie

Much like Starlight's statement, Hughie has the epiphany that something is, in fact, all rigged. Viewers don't know what makes him have this realization yet, but it is clear from the trailer that he becomes disillusioned with the work he was doing.

It seems that he calls Butcher and agrees that the only way to take down Vought is to play dirty. Since viewers know that he was working for a traitor, it could be that he finally realized who he is working for. Fans are hoping that The Boys are able to take out Neuman, and Hughie saying this could lead to this.

Butcher Levels Up

"For Once, I've Leveled The F***ing Playing Field." — Butcher

Butcher and his crew have been fighting Supes for years; sometimes they have succeeded in killing them, but they are always fighting at an extreme disadvantage. Once Butcher becomes a Supe, he can finally attack them at their own level.

Even though this goes against everything Butcher and his crew have been fighting against, fans can't help but be excited to see Butcher wreck shop at a higher level than he has been able to before. This new ability can finally give the audience the epic Homelander/Butcher face-off they deserve.

The Most Obvious Statement Of The Year

"There's Something Wrong With Homelander." — Starlight

Starlight looking slightly puzzled in The Boys

In the trailer, Homelander is shown acting very strange, to say the least. He looks like he's trying really hard not to lose his cool. He also milks a cow, caresses what looks to be a bloodstain, and gives off unwell vibes in general. Starlight says this line, while also commenting on how he was "losing it" and "broken."

This line is funny and ironic since viewers have been well aware that there is a lot very wrong with Homelander over the past 2 seasons. This line is also terrifying because of what he is capable of. Homelander is already dangerous, and an out-of-control Homelander has the potential to destroy the world.

MM Reminds Butcher What Matters

"The Whole Point Of What We Do Is That No One Should Have That Kind Of Power." — Mother's Milk

Even though fans might be excited to see Butcher at his full badass potential, Mother's Milk makes sure to remind him why they do what they do. Butcher is reaching a point of desperation in his quest for revenge that he is turning his back on their ideology.

Milk is not just reminding Butcher, but also the audience that even if they win this way, will it all be worth it? The reality is that the serum is dangerous in anyone's hands, and as comic fans know, even Butcher isn't incapable of being corrupted.

 They Are Alone In This

"We're All We've Got." — Starlight

In the trailer, there is a tense shot between Starlight and Neuman as she says this line. This makes fans think she is referring to the fact that Starlight, The Boys, and all who are anti-Vought had the support of some political figures.

As they were trying to out Vought's crimes last season, they kept getting met by disasters. The twist last season with Neuman revealed that they actually do not have any political support. When Starlight makes this statement, fans believe she is saying they only have each other and they won't be able to trust anyone else.
