The Boys season 2 cut a shocking scene with a live mouse. Season 1 of the subversive superhero series, which is based on the comic books of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, was a certifiable hit for Amazon Prime. Superheroes, or "supes," exist in the universe of The Boys, with the most elite group being the Seven, who are revered for their heroism. Only a vigilante group called the Boys know that the Seven aren't nearly heroic as they seem.

One of the highlights of the first season was the Boys discovering Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), a mute woman who could kill anyone easily within seconds. The Boys discover that Kimiko was kidnapped as a child, and was trained to be a terrorist and injected with the superhero steroid "Compound V." Kimiko was last seen in the first season being rescued by Frenchie and Mother's Milk from a dangerous jail compound. In a series of The Boys season 2 teaser photos, Kimiko is seen in front of protestors holding signs that say, "Citizens need heroes," and, "Who will they kill next?" While details are scarce regarding Kimiko's arc in the upcoming season, the season 2 trailer did reveal that Kimiko and the Boys were on the run from the law and the Seven.

Fukuhara revealed in an interview with Digital Spy that a season 2 scene involving a live mouse and Kimiko's past was ultimately cut. Check out what Fukuhara had to say about the cut scene below.

"We've talked about so many of our shocking moments, especially the whale and the boat scene, but I just remembered, this was cut... I had a scene with a mouse, so working with a real live animal and it being a mouse, that was pretty shocking to me...I'm so sad it didn't make the cut, because it was such an interesting experience for me! The scene had something to do with my past, so when we were in The Boys' hideout, a mouse just appears. It's a street mouse. Kimiko finds a connection there...It outshined me! That's why it didn't make the cut in season two, but it will appear in season three for sure!"

The Female Karen Fukuhara

It's unfortunate that the scene was cut. As Fukuhara noted, The Boys isn't known for shying away from shocking scenes. (Case in point, the notoriously bloody dolphin scene in season one.) It would definitely be interesting to learn more about Kimiko's background in season 2 and how her past influences her behavior as a member of the Boys. After all, she is the sole woman and "supe" in the group, if fans don't factor in Starlight. Hopefully, season 2 will allow Kimiko more time to shine, shocking live mouse scene aside.

The first three episodes of the highly anticipated second season of The Boys premiere September 4th. Showrunner Eric Kripke has said that season 2 will put the Boys under intense pressure. What does that mean for Kimiko, the resilient woman without words, the female of the species? Fans will have to wait until the 4th to find out.
