The R-Rated anti-superhero show The Boys is coming back on June 3rd with new episodes for the first time since October 2020. Adapted by Eric Kripke from the comic books created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series' first two seasons were a huge hit for Amazon Prime.

The series has taken its liberties in changing characters and storylines from their comic book counterparts, but they continue to take some characters and scenes directly from the pages. Season 3 has cast seven new super-abled characters, some of them directly from the comics but a few are show originals. So far, there's a bit of information about each of them.

Gunpowder

Gunpowder VNN in The Boys

Gunpowder is a character that comic straight from the pages of the comics and Patrick Flanery was cast in the role. The gun-toting Supe is a member of the NRA sponsored Supe team Teenage Kix. Gunpowder was shown in a brief clip in season 1 in a newscast on TV, as a pro-gun advocate.

His abilities surround, unsurprisingly, projectile weapons. He is able to control millines and create weapons out of thin air. With the casting of Flanery, who is 55, it is safe to assume the comic storyline won't be a direct adaptation, since he wouldn't be a member of Teenage Kix. He is a retired former member of Payback in the series.

Soldier Boy

Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy in The Boys

Soldier Boy is the character that most is known about, and he is considered one of the best characters from the comicsSupernatural's Jensen Ackles will portray the Captain America parody WWII Supe, whose powers include super-strength, speed, and agility. In the comics, the character is like Cap in branding and aesthetic only as he is actually portrayed as a coward and spouts nationalistic rhetoric.

How comic-accurate the adaptation will be is still unknown. It has been confirmed that he will be a curmudgeon and possibly problematic. However, based on the trailer, his cowardice is still unconfirmed. Though he appears to be a badass, but that could be revealed to be a bait and switch.

Swatto

Swatto in The Boys comics

Swatto has the ability to shrink to a fly-sized crime fighter. Obviously a riff on Ant-Man, the character is played by stunt actor Joel Labelle in season 3. Swatto is unable to speak any human language in the comics and only telepathic Supe Mind Droid can understand him. However, in the trailer he can clearly be heard speaking English, repeating the expletive "f---, f---, f---!"

What other changes are made to the comic version of the character is still unknown. Swatto is a member of the Supe team Payback in the comics and is one of several members making an appearance this season. While not much is known about the storyline of the character on the show, if the comics are any indication, he might have a short run.

Supersonic

Supersonic on the news in The Boys

Supersonic isn't exactly a character in the comics, but the show seems to have taken another character Drummer Boy, to create Supersonic. Confirmed to be Starlight's ex-boyfriend, they carried over some aspects of the character. He is also in a Supe boyband called Super-Sweet.

Played by Miles Gaston Villanueva, the character of Drummer Boy doesn't have powers in the comics, but Supersonic does. In the series he is vying for a spot in the Seven and will possibly be causing some friction in Starlight and Hughie's relationship. The character has also been in rehab in the past.

Blue Hawk

The Boys season 3 Blue Hawk costume

Blue Hawk is a show original, so not much is known about him. Played by Nick Wechsler, from cult-classic Roswellhe appeared in a segment of The Boys spin-off web-series Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman.

Like with Supersonic, fans suspect he could be an adapted from comic character Grand Hawk, who wears a blue helmet and has hammers for hands. If this is the case, he could lead to the formation of G-Men, the college The Boys spin-off. In the Seven on 7 appearance, he is referenced as a "patriotic' Supe and the new "face of 4-Freedom American-made products."

Crimson Countess

Crimson Countess

Crimson Countess was referenced in season 1 by Starlight, who thought she would be given a spot on the Seven. Laurie Holden (Walking Dead) has been cast as the Scarlet Witch-like character. Like her reality-bending counterpart, she is also romantically involved with an android-like humanoid Mind Droid, in the comics.

She can be seen in the trailer blowing a couple people into bits in a brutal fashion. Also a member of the Supe team Playback, the pyrokinetic Supe can control heat and fire with her mind. Crimson Countess is referenced in Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman as a singer for Vought. Even though her powers are portrayed as stronger than fellow fire-controller Lamplighter, she is just treated as a side-show by Vought for some reason.

Moonshadow

Moonshadow from The Boys

Moonshadow is featured on Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman. The mystery Supe is called the "west coast, senses-shattering bombshell," and she was the Vought Sports' issue cover model. They say her popularity is skyrocketing as the crime rate in her city drop.

Moonshadow is a show original character that only briefly appeared in a segment of Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman. As such, not much is known about her, or if she will have a role in season 3. But since she had her segment stress her popularity, its possible she may make an appearance in season 3.
