Lamplighter is one of the original members of The Seven in The Boys. However, following his death in the comics, it didn't spell the end for the character. Instead, Lamplighter was brought back from the dead via resurrection and transformed into a full-fledged monster by Vought.

In both the comic and Amazon television series, Lamplighter (played by Shawn Ashmore) meet their end... in different ways. While both versions of the character are responsible for the Mallory's grandchildren's deaths, his own demise is quite different in the two mediums. In the TV show, he burns himself alive at Vought Tower as he wants to die over guilt and depression. In the comics, Mallory puts a bullet in his head as revenge for killing their grandchildren. But, in the comics, Lamplighter would return after initially being killed.

In The Boys #19 by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Homelander directs Starlight and A-Train to a secluded part of Vought Tower to do an important task that will help them understand "what happens to anyone who underestimates" the Boys. They're led to a dingy, smelly room where they find Lamplighter perched among his own filth. He's barely recognizable besides his mask and lamp. He's naked, dirty, drooling, and completely malnourished. Lamplighter has been drastically changed.

Lamplighter inThe Boys

Starlight is understandably disgusted by Lamplighter's condition and calls the fact he's alive "sick" and in her shock, states "he shouldn't be alive." A-Train tells her Lamplighter isn't alive, but he's been resurrected by Vought as one of the "V-boosted, brain-damaged revived assholes -- like Nubia or Blarney Cock." Lamplighter might be alive in the most basic sense, but with severe brain damage and being locked in a cell as The Seven's own monster reminder of what can happen when things go wrong, it's not much of an existence. Lamplighter is nothing more than a shell of the former hero.

Lamplighter's fate in the comics could serve as a way for The Boys to reintroduce the character on the television series. Ashmore's portrayal of the Green Lantern parody was excellent and the show's co-creator admitted immediately regretted killing him off so fast. Perhaps, Lamplighter can be resurrected on the show in the same way - albeit, in a much less messed-up fashion. Bringing him back to be a weak, disheveled zombie wouldn't make a ton of sense, as it did in the comics. But, bringing him back as a zombified version of Lamplighter could be an interesting direction to take the character while providing a comics-based reason to bring him back. Either way, The Boys comic laid a very tragic foundation for Lamplighter's return.
