WARNING: Spoilers for The Boys Season 2 Episode 4

Homelander kills reporters with his laser eyes in a trailer for The Boys season 2 episode 5. The Amazon Prime original hit series will be releasing one new episode every Friday until October 9th. Homelander was at his wit's end in episode 4, and it looks like he'll unleash his wrath on the public in the upcoming fifth episode.

There were plenty of interesting reveals in last week's episode. M.M, Hughie, and Starlight discovered that the mysterious supe Liberty was actually Stormfront. Becca Butcher made a tough decision. Homelander's growing rage seemed to increase exponentially as the episode progressed, culminating in his decision to kill Doppelganger, who had been shapeshifting into the late Madelyn Stillwell and then into Homelander himself in the last horrifying scene of episode four. However, it's Stormfront that seems to get to Homelander the most, after she calls him out for his obsessive need to be loved by everyone.

It seems like every episode of The Boys keeps ramping up tensions and conflict without losing vital character beats. The trailer for episode 5 is no exception. The appearance of Billy Butcher's dog Terror seems to be the only lighthearted moment in the trailer because it ends with a moment that's shocking even by Homelander's sadistic standards. Homelander's decision to slaughter a whole crowd of reporters and civilians in broad daylight is uncharacteristically unhinged. Could it be that he's taken Stormfront's words to heart and decided to stop worrying about pleasing the populace? That his decision to murder Doppelganger in Homelander's form was him quite literally murdering his past self? Or will it be yet another mass murder that Vought International covers up, in order to protect Homelander from the accusation that he's committed war crimes? There's an infinite amount of possibilities, but the thought of a Homelander who no longer cares about his public image is downright terrifying.

It's definitely hard to tell, but if there's one theme that The Boys constantly embraces throughout each episode, it's that nothing is quite as it seems. Season 2 seems to be building up for a major confrontation between Stormfront and Homelander, but the Boys are still in the fight as well. There's only four more episodes left of this subversive superhero series this season, and there is definitely a lot of ground still left to cover. Fans can watch episode five on The Boys this Friday, only on Amazon Prime.
