The Book of Boba Fett is coming to Disney+ in 2021. Now that, certainly, isn’t something we imagined writing before the release of The Mandalorian’s second season. The iconic Bounty Hunter from the original trilogy is back in action now, slaughtering Bib Fortuna in the finale to pave the way for what’s to follow after helping Din Djarin and Grogu out. And we at Screen Rant can’t wait to see what lies in store for the legendary Star Wars character.

So, with that in mind, we’ll take a look at 10 unanswered questions we have about the upcoming TV show.

Why Kill Bib Fortuna?

The Mandalorian Bib Fortuna on Jabba's Throne

It was certainly thrilling to see Boba Fett brutally murder Bib Fortuna in Jabba’s Palace, especially given how it was the latter’s first appearance on the big screen since a fleeting cameo in The Phantom Menace. Like his predecessor, Bib had gotten rather plump with age - being kingpin of the planet of Tatooine appears to do that to you - and he was just saying how happy he was to see Boba when he was executed.

So why do it? After all, it wasn’t Bib’s fault that Boba fell into the Sarlacc during the events of Return of the Jedi. All signs point to Boba now replacing him as head of the underworld but, until we get actual clarification, that’s merely speculation at the current point in time.

How Did He Escape The Sarlacc?

Star Wars Monster Sarlacc

Sure, this was something that was hinted at - but still not fully explained. When you fall into the Sarlacc pit by the Dune Sea, you don’t stand much chance of survival. Therefore, Boba’s return from the dead was certainly a surprise - even if the seeds had been planted a long time ago.

It’s implied in Chapter 9: The Marshal that Sarlaccs can be eaten by Krayt Dragons, the big creature Mando battles during the second season’s pilot. This means that there’s a chance Boba was able to get out this way but we’re hoping to see that happen from his point of view. Because, even if you’ve got Mandalorian armor, you’re still not exactly in the clear. Disney could even come up with a better, cooler way the Bounty Hunter was able to escape.

Did He Hang Out With Tusken Raiders?

Boba Fett and Tusken Raider in The Mandalorian

Fans got their first glimpse of Boba again at the end of The Marshal. He stands and watches from afar as Mando flies away following his triumph over the Krayt Dragon and, because of Chapter 14: The Tragedy, we now know he tracked down the warrior in the aftermath. He turns up wearing an awesome black robe and also has a Gaderffii, the same ax-mace Tusken Raiders use.

So how did he acquire it? Tusken Raiders aren’t the nasty pieces they were made out to be during both the original and prequel trilogies so it’s possible Boba spent time in their company lying low. Then again, he’s a violent brute so he could have taken it by force. Until The Book of Boba Fett releases, we won’t know for sure.

What Does He Think Of The Jedi Now?

Mace Windu Cuts Off Jango Fett Head

Boba Fett didn’t previously like the Jedi, or anybody associated with their cause. This, of course, is because of how Mace Windu beheaded his father Jango Fett during the events of Attack of the Clones. However, in The Mandalorian, Temuera Morrison’s character was more than happy to help Mando on his mission to retrieve Grogu, a Jedi in the making.

This merely could have been because Mando gave him back his father’s iconic armor. However, it could also be because the sharpshooter has changed with age. He may have heard about Luke Skywalker triumphing over Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine and decided the Tatooine farmboy and his kind aren’t so bad after all. Again, it’s something we’ll have to wait on.

What Will People Make Of His Face?

Clone Troopers Clone Wars Rex

In Chapter 16: The Rescue, Boba clashes with Bo Katan. She mocks him, saying she’s heard his voice many times before. The former Darksaber wielder looks down on him, considering the Bounty Hunter merely to be another clone in the galaxy.

So that begs the question: just how will people respond to his face? The Clone Troopers were once meant for good before Order 66 happened and they wiped out many of the Jedi, with some help from Darth Vader of course. It’s possible Boba will face similar snide remarks wherever he goes. Some, however, may even be sympathetic towards him - knowing the Clones didn’t act of their own accord.

Will Bo Katan Appear?

Bo Katan Boba Fett The Mandalorian

Speaking of Bo Katan, it’s possible she could actually make an appearance when The Book of Boba Fett hits the small screen in 2021. Perhaps even as an antagonist.

She’s certainly got a temper and won’t hesitate to take the fight to anybody she believes deserves it. It seemed like she was ready to fight Din Djarin for the Darksaber in the finale of The Mandalorian before Luke Skywalker’s exciting cameo and, if she hears Boba is ruling Tatooine, could decide to take action. Disney is keen to bridge everything together - so some familiar faces coming back for more can’t be ruled out.

Will He Be A Fugitive?

The Empire Strikes Back Storm Trooper Darth Vader Lando Calrissian Boba Fett

Boba may have his sights set on ruling Tatooine, but he could also be a fugitive. The New Republic attempted to track down many Imperial allies in the years after Palpatine’s first defeat and it’s feasible that Morrison’s character could be in their sights given his actions in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

In Empire, Boba worked alongside Darth Vader to bring Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt on the planet of Bespin. We can’t imagine him just being allowed to get off without facing any consequences for his crimes and The Mandalorian has shown the New Republic can be pretty speedy when they get a sniff of something interesting. Not quite enough, however, to prevent the rise of the First Order from happening…

Will He Seek Out Other Clones?

Now he’s seemingly kingpin of Tatooine, Boba will likely have numerous adversaries out to steal his throne.

So a little protection wouldn’t go amiss - so who better than some Clone Troopers? As son of their host, Jango, it’s possible they’ll volunteer themselves to help their man out. The Bounty Hunter can’t rely solely on Ming-Na Wen’s Fennec Shand to keep him safe, so some recruitment definitely won’t go amiss. If they’re as shunned as Bo Katan’s comment in the finale made out, then why not? It definitely beats lying low, after all, and battle is in their DNA. Quite literally.

Will Jango Make An Appearance?

Temuera Morrison as Jango Fett in Star Wars Attack of the Clones

We’ve already mentioned how Jango was killed by Mace Windu in Attack of the Clones. And, given he was beheaded, it’s highly unlikely he’ll be brought back from the dead. However, that’s not to say the character won’t appear in Boba’s TV show.

Flashbacks are a big part of Star Wars, helping to bridge the gap between the past and present. Boba made reference to his father a couple of times during The Mandalorian, suggesting Jango still remains his inspiration all these years. So it’s possible we might even get some flashbacks involving the pair, perhaps showing Boba’s transformation from a sweet innocent child to one full of anger and hate. Casting him wouldn't exactly be difficult, either...

Will The Show Cross Over With The Mandalorian Season 3?

The Mandalorian Boba Fett Mayfeld

It’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan with all this new material releasing in the coming years. And the winter of 2021 is shaping up to be particularly special, with The Mandalorian Season 3 and Book of Boba Fett lined up to release around the same time. This could mean that they could run concurrently.

Not that Jon Favreau is giving much away. He kept his cards close to his chest when speaking on Good Morning America in December, saying: "So this is actually separate from The Mandalorian season 3. But what we didn't say in that announcement is the next show coming up — what Kathy called 'the next chapter' — is going to be The Book of Boba Fett, and then we go into production right after that on The Mandalorian, back with the main character that we all know and love... pretty soon following that. There's a lot of Star Wars content coming out, I think they announced 10 projects, I think this will be 11."
