These flaws often overtook their personalities and made for various arguments among the friend group. Despite this, Sheldon's gang worked to become better friends with each other and fans were able to watch as they overcame their greatest flaw.

Barry Kripke Was Too Competitive

Even though he wasn't one of the main characters on The Big Bang Theory, Barry Kripke has been deemed one of the funniest by fans. Kripke was most famously known for his bickering with Sheldon and his inability to lose. Kripke's first introduction to the series shows him bragging about his robot beating the friend group's robot in combat.

Kripke has a love/hate relationship with the main friend group. He is civil with the majority of the group but has difficulties with getting along with Sheldon. However, he manages to overcome this when he and Sheldon are tasked with working together; after realizing that they would achieve greater things if they worked together rather than apart, Kripke decided to stop the competitive rivalry between them and eventually became a good friend.

Dr. Beverly Hofstadter Wasn't Motherly

Dr. Beverly Hofstadter made her first appearance in the series as the overly critical and cold mother of Leonard. Despite being a renowned neuroscientist and psychiatrist, Beverly has a difficult time bonding with Leonard. She hardly takes an interest in his life, is critical of his choices, and favored Sheldon over him.

However, this all changed as the show progressed. After developing a paternal-like friendship with Penny and Sheldon, Beverly overcomes her cold demeanor with Leonard when she takes their advice and actively listens to him when he tells her why he is upset. By the time season 12 came around, they were quite close.

Stuart Was A Pushover

Stuart was another side character in the series that quickly won over the fans. Although he struck up an unlikely friendship with The Big Bang Theory's main group, he truly cared about his friends, but his lack of confidence made it easy for the other friends to take advantage of him.

However, even though Stuart was a pushover, he gained confidence when he realized how he was being treated by his friends. When Sheldon invites him to a "backup friend" brunch, Stuart expresses his frustration at his friendship being taken advantage of. Sheldon apologized and complimented Stuart in order to make things right. Stuart's ability to demand respect was the tipping point for him overcoming his flaw.

Howard Was Selfish

Howard was a selfish person and arguably one of the low-key villains on The Big Bang Theory. When viewers first meet him, he is constantly degrading and taking advantage of women. Howard also lived with his mother and expected her to do everything for him while he insulted her to his friends.

However, after Howard meets Bernadette, he begins to respect her and often goes out of his way to do nice things for her. Howard also learned to help with household chores after the birth of his two children. Even though Howard was fairly unlikeable at the start of the series, he truly grows the most out of all the characters on the show.

Bernadette Was Too Competitive

Fans learn during the series how competitive Bernadette can be. During the group's scavenger hunt across town, Bernadette pushes Leonard to work harder and breaks through her typically sweet demeanor. Bernadette also hated losing and would get overly upset anytime she lost against another person.

Bernadette battles through her competitiveness often in the series. She tries her best not to get too upset when she loses in Fortnite against Howard and Raj, but becomes obsessed with getting better than them. Bernadatte may not change much as The Big Bang Theory continues, but she does slowly transform herself into a less competitive person.

Amy Was Too Nice

Amy was a sweet character from the first moment she is introduced to the series. She pushed for friendship with Penny early on and was happy to make compromises for Sheldon to further solidify their relationship. However, Amy was often too nice and was consistently taken advantage of by the friend group.

Amy's kind spirit made it easy for Sheldon to get his way. Amy, like Leonard, also tended to want to avoid conflict and was often content doing what the rest of the group did. However, Amy realizes Sheldon's selfishness and breaks up with him. This causes Sheldon to reevaluate himself and how he treats Amy. Her ability to demand respect from Sheldon helped her overcome her overly nice personality.

Raj Was Afraid To Be Alone

Despite having selective mutism at the start of the series, Raj always seemed to be searching for a great love. He starts the series going out with Howard, attempting to hook up with girls, and eventually wants to settle down once his friends end up in long term committed relationships.

However, at the end of The Big Bang Theory, Raj slowly transforms into a person who is comfortable with themselves and in being single. He understands his expectations of a relationship and knows that he cannot settle for less.

Penny Didn't Express Her Feelings

Penny was sweet and easily took on a motherly role in the friend group. She is typically the person that the friends go to for advice and she is consistently supporting her friends in the various aspects of their lives. Even though Penny is a thoughtful friend, she hardly expresses her feelings towards her friends.

Penny is insecure about her feelings and often reacts quickly when things get too serious. She ends her relationship with Leonard when he expresses that he loves her without fully explaining herself. However, Penny learns to express herself and fully open up to the friend group as the series progresses. She openly expresses her feelings for Leonard and expresses how Amy is truly her best friend.

Leonard Was Cowardly

Leonard may have won fans over with his romantic side, but Leonard was also very cowardly when it came to standing up for himself. He often lets Sheldon have his way to avoid arguments and he let Penny take control of their relationship. Leonard also seemed meek and quiet when compared with the other friends in the group.

However, he ultimately takes advice from Sheldon and gives the grant money to himself, disregarding any worry of who it could potentially upset. Leonard also stands up to Sheldon more in the later seasons of the show, also showing his independence and ability to fight for his beliefs.

Sheldon Was Too Analytical

Sheldon solidified himself as an analytical component of the friend group. He analyzed many aspects of the group and was controlling when it came to every activity the group wanted to do. Sheldon was also unable to make compromises in order to be more flexible, causing problems and socially wkward moments throughout The Big Bang Theory.

Sheldon's analytical side caused him to get into multiple arguments with his friends and Amy. However, Sheldon learns to make compromises and adjust to change after his relationship with Amy progresses. He becomes more in touch with his feelings and he tries his best to be a better friend overall. Sheldon still had hilarious moments of analytical behavior, but he grew from when fans of the show first meet him.
