90's nostalgia is in the air at IFC. Today the cable network announced that it is picking up four of the most off-kilter comedies in recent memory.

IFC is the new home of The Ben Stiller Show, The Larry Sanders Show, Mr. Show with Bob and David and Action. The news is a particularly welcome announcement for fans of Ben Stiller and his show's co-creator Judd Apatow, who recently signed on for a new HBO Comedy, the now ubiquitous name behind many of comedy's biggest contemporary hits.

The Ben Stiller Show is remembered for some of the earliest known television appearances by now-established comedic titans - Janeane Garofalo, Andy Dick and Bob Odenkirk, to name just a few. Beginning next month, The Ben Stiller Show will join the teeming old school IFC programming slate, which already includes the likes of Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared.

In a statement announcing the four new programs, Jennifer Caserta, IFC executive Vice President & General Manager said:

“These four acquisitions are the perfect companion to the growing line-up of alternative comedies on IFC. They all have incredibly passionate, loyal fans and by pairing them within a comedy block we’re giving our viewers unique context about the shows and the influential comedians who create them.”

To say these particular shows have "passionate" fans would be an understatement. Rivaling - if not surpassing - the enthusiasm many contemporary television viewers have for shows like Glee, the latent but still living adoration for programs like The Ben Stiller Show and The Larry Sanders Show cannot possibly be underestimated. Consequently, IFC's new acquisitions are expected to perform incredibly well in their respective time slots against competing - and modern - programming.

According to IFC, the four acquired shows will also serve up fresh content, including interviews with the various programs' stars, writers, and creators. Other famous comedians, actors, and writers influenced by these undeniable classics will similarly provide commentary in exclusive IFC interviews to accompany the broadcasts.

Larry Sanders will hit IFC January 3rd at 11 p.m. with new episodes on tap for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Ben Stiller Show arrives January 5th at 10:30 p.m. with new episodes scheduled for Wednesdays. Mr. Show premieres January 7th at 11 p.m with episodes airing Fridays at 11:30 p.m. For now, IFC will only say that Action will debut sometime in the fourth quarter of 2011.
