Robert Pattinson recalls the audition process for The Batman where he had to wear George Clooney's Batman suit. The Batman is the latest reboot of the Batman film franchise and looks to be an even more grounded and darker take on the material than even Christopher Nolan's trilogy. This is a Batman that is a far cry from the 1997 film Batman and Robin, which was criticized by many upon its release for being a campy take on the caped crusader that was saddled with poor ice puns and stiff performances by everyone involved.

While Pattinson's suit is a very unique Batsuit, this isn't the actor's first time donning the iconic costume. The actor revealed that he wore George Clooney's Batsuit from Batman and Robin during the audition process, comparing the two suits as he had more mobility in his suit as compared to Clooney's. Unlike Clooney's suit, which was a stiff rubber mold, Pattinson's suit is a more tactical outfit with parts that break apart.

While promoting The Batman, Robert Pattinson shared some details about the audition process and how he felt wearing the George Clooney Batman and Robin suit. According to Comicbook.com, Pattinson recalled the incredible experience of auditioning in Clooney's Batsuit. Pattinson said how he was sweating through it and it prepared him for the filming process, and he even took a selfie of himself in the suit in case he didn't get the part but could remember the experience and was excited to have the notorious bat nipples. Pattinson said:

"It was incredible. I mean, I remember when I was doing the screen test, because it was really fun and it was really, really long. I mean, I literally did a screen test in it for about eight hours and the entire time was just pouring sweat so much with Matt [Reeves] saying, 'What can we do about this sweat?' I'm like, 'There's nothing to be done. The only way past this is not drinking any liquids.'...I remember sneaking a little selfie in it when everyone left the room thinking if this doesn't work out... I'll always have this. I'll always have a picture of me and my nipples!"

The Batman audition process has been an interesting one for many, with many actors wearing the previous film suits to see how they will look as the caped crusader. During the audition process for Batman Begins actors Christian Bale, Cillian Murphy, and Eion Bailey all wore Val Kilmer's suit from Batman Forever. Interestingly, Pattinson revealed at DC FanDome in 2021 that he also wore the Kilmer Batsuit during the audition process, so the actors could be confusing the two suits or he did have to wear both costumes at various points during the audition process.

Pattinson's excitement of being in the Batman and Robin suit, despite the film's poor reaction, goes back to the actor's comment on how he believed there were no bad Batman movies. Pattinson clearly has an admiration for all Batman projects, and his excitement shows not only a talented actor but a big fan getting a chance to play their favorite hero and that raises excitement for The Batman. While Pattinson doesn't have social media, one has to hope that his Batsuit selfie will be released online similar to the Spider-Man pointing meme released for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
