Warning: Contains spoilers for The Batman.

The Batman ends with a link to a real-life website filled with riddles, and these are the answers to the riddles and the reward one gets for completing them. A major part of the marketing for the film has been capitalizing on the Riddler’s gimmick and giving out riddles for people to solve and unlock Easter eggs. That’s continuing even after the film’s release, and this is everything someone can get out of it.

As is typical with any Batman story involving the Riddler, the Riddler spends the film sending Batman and the police riddle after riddle about the crimes he’s planning to commit to test their ability to solve his puzzles. Some of the riddles are basic word games, but others involve the cipher that The Batman's Riddler created, which was even used to hide messages in promotional material. The ending of the film keeps it going by flashing the URL “rataalada.com” from the film, which can take a person to an actual website with riddles to solve.

The website is programmed to be interactive and mocks users for either taking multiple tries to finish it or for going into a new tab to look up answers, but there’s no penalty for doing any of those things. No matter how long it takes to solve the riddles, the reward remains the same. Here are the riddles, answers, and reward for The Batman's mysterious site.

Rataalada riddles and answers

Riddle 1: “What was new, is new again. Rebirth. Restoration. Reformation.” The answer is “renewal.” Renewal is another synonym for the words mentioned in the riddle, and it also references the Renewal Program of Bruce Wayne's father, Thomas Wayne, which was a major part of the Riddler’s motivations and the plot as a whole.

Riddle 2: “Fear he who hides behind one.” The answer is “mask,” as it’s the most common thing a person can hide behind. The riddle can be interpreted as referencing someone like Batman who hides behind a mask, but in the context of the film, it references the corruption and conspiracies that the leaders of Gotham are involved with while masquerading as upstanding citizens.

Riddle 3: “I am first a fraud or a trick. Or perhaps a blend of the two. That’s up to your misinterpretation.” The answer is “confusion.” Confusion is tied into lying and trickery, and in the context of the film, it could be referring to all of the chaos that people have to deal with on a regular basis.

Rataalada.com’s Reward Explained

The Riddler's hidden message

After solving all of Paul Dano's Riddler's riddles, the website provides a link to a reward, which is a zip file labeled “What Am I” that contains a password-protected video titled “Thomas Wayne Lies.” The password to unlock it is “promise,” and the video is Thomas Wayne’s mayoral campaign video from The Batman, specifically the scene where it’s being used by the Riddler to explain the Waynes’ crimes. Returning to the website after watching the video prompts a string of messages relating to the Riddler’s incarceration at Arkham followed by a link to a message written in his cipher. When translated using the key, the message reads, “You think I’m finished, but perhaps you don’t know the full truth. Every ending is a new beginning. Something is coming.” The exact meaning behind it is unclear, but it’s likely alluding to the Riddler appearing in future sequels to Matt Reeves' The Batman and possibly revealing even more truths than what was revealed in the film.
