A new tie-in toy for The Batman offers fans their best look at Bruce Wayne's other identity as a drifter. Robert Pattinson will soon debut as Warner Bros.' latest version of the iconic DC hero in the Matt Reeves-directed film. With its March 2022 release date now nearing, marketing for the film is slowly ramping up, hence the release of official merchandise for the movie, including action figures.

Originally supposed to star Ben Affleck, The Batman was going to be the Caped Crusader's solo film within the DCEU. But after the actor left the comic book franchise, it has been reworked into an entirely different film. It now exists in an entirely different universe, with no ties to the current big-screen iteration of the Justice League and all their tie-in characters. Reeves assembled a star-studded cast joining Pattinson, including Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and Andy Serkis as Alfred. Paul Dano will play the movie's primary villain, The Riddler.

Specific plot details for The Batman are still being kept under wraps, but aside from being the Gotham vigilante, Pattinson's Bruce will also take another persona in The Batman as a drifter. Now, fans can get a closer look at the hero's secret identity thanks to a 7-inch scale action figure from McFarlane Toys (via Entertainment Earth which is "based off of the look and costume design of the character from The Batman movie." Additional information from the seller's site reveals that Bruce uses his drifter disguise to "infiltrate the crowds of Gotham City at ground-level without revealing his true identity." This fits well with the idea that The Batman will highlight Bruce's detective skills — something that hasn't been fully explored in previous movies that centers around the DC superhero. As previously revealed, Bruce is only two years into being the Bat of Gotham in the movie, and he's increasingly getting frustrated that he has yet to see the improvement in the city that he originally envisioned when he started functioning as Batman. The fact that he can easily wander around the city as a drifter without alarming the police is also an indication of how badly Gotham has deteriorated.

However, to make the positive changes he wants for his home city, Bruce may have to look at the power players who may have something to do with what's happening in the metropolitan in The Batman. As hinted by The Riddler, corruption in the government is so widespread that it hinders Gotham's progress. He might also need to dig deep into his family's ties as all of the Waynes may also have something to do with what's happening in the city.
