Who is Andrew Jack, and why is The Batman dedicated to him? Once Ben Affleck decided to step down from the role of the Dark Knight, Warner Bros. elected to reboot Batman once more under the direction of Matt Reeves. The Batman explores Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in his second year behind the mask, as the Riddler (Paul Dano) exposes the corrupt history of Gotham. In doing so, the movie also introduces various DC Comics characters, including Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman and Colin Farrell's Penguin.

The credits for The Batman highlight everyone associated with the movie and give audiences another chance to listen to pieces of Michael Giacchino's score. This included highlighting the creators of comics that heavily influenced Reeves' detective story, such as Jeph Loeb's Batman: The Long Halloween and Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. Audiences are likely to see many of these names scroll through the credits as they wait to see if The Batman has a post-credits scene. Before the playful tease included at the very end, though, The Batman's credits reveal the movie is dedicated to Andrew Jack.

The name Andrew Jack might not be immediately recognizable for most, but he was the dialect coach on The Batman. The reason the film is dedicated to him, though, is because he passed away during production. The Batman's production took place at the very beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Andrew Jack contracted the disease early in 2020. He died on March 31 of that same year due to complications as a result of coronavirus. The Batman is dedicated to Andrew Jack to remember his work on the movie prior to his death and honor a career that spanned roughly 40 years.

Star Wars Andrew Jack Ematt

Andrew Jack got his start as a dialect coach in 1982. His career really started to take off in the 1990s, as he worked on projects like Chaplin with Robert Downey Jr., GoldenEye with Pierce Brosnan, and the Lost in Space movie starring Gary Oldman. Andrew Jack then worked on Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, multiple entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and several Star Wars movies. He even appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi as General Ematt.

Even though Andrew Jack died two months into The Batman's filming, he was heavily involved with the film leading up to his death. Matt Reeves opened up about the impact of his passing shortly after it occurred. The Batman shut down production shortly after Jack's death, and Reeves told The Daily Beast it was a "heartbreaking" and "scary" time for everyone that "makes you really think about what matters." Since The Batman is Andrew Jack's last known project, it is fitting that the movie is dedicated to him and his legendary career.
