Previous Catwoman actors Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry both reached out to Zoë Kravitz on the day of The Batman’s release. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is the newest adaptation of DC’s infamous hero. Kravitz stars as Catwoman alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman in one of 2022 most anticipated films.

Prior to Kravitz, audiences saw Anne Hathaway play the character in The Dark Knight Rises. Much like Batman, Catwoman has seen multiple different incarnations over the years. Pfeiffer took on the role for 1992’s Batman returns and was set up to have a spinoff film of her own, but the studio started looking for someone else after being a mother changed the actor’s priorities. They later found that someone else in Berry as she went on to undertake the feline-themed character for 2004’s standalone Catwoman movie. The film was incredibly poorly received by critics and fans alike, but it was mostly over aspects of the film outside of Berry’s control, and while she doesn’t regret being a part of the project, Berry said she’d love to play Catwoman again.

Upon the release date of The Batman, Kravitz posted several photos of herself and Pattinson on Instagram to advertise the movie. The actor’s comment section is full of thousands of people applauding the film and others intrigued by the promotional images. In amongst these adoring fans were Pfeiffer and Berry hyping up the newest Catwoman, Kravitz happily replying to them both with an array of cat-themed emojis. Berry’s comment goes on to say that she’s excited to see her interpretation. See their interaction below:

Berry’s enthusiasm comes as no surprise as the actor has been continuously supportive of Kravitz since her casting was first announced. Berry even went as far as to reach out and give the new Catwoman some advice on tackling a character that has been seen so many times before. Berry encouraged her to find her own interpretation, believing that whatever Kravitz chose to do with the character would be amazing. Pfeiffer's approval is extremely significant given her memorable performance in Batman Returns. Kravitz actually based her turn in The Batman on Pfeiffer, so Pfeiffer's praise should mean a lot to her.

Before receiving all of this support, Kravitz has admitted to being anxious during her first audition for The Batman. It would be easy to succumb to the pressure of portraying such a well-known character, but Kravitz hasn’t let that undermine her performance. Thus far, it seems like Berry’s prediction is reining true. The Batman’s opening weekend box office has quickly become DC's highest since Suicide Squad in 2016, with over $128M in earnings overshadowing its predicted $100 million. After the film’s public release just a few days ago, there’s been an overwhelmingly positive reaction from passionate fans raving about Kravitz’s Catwoman.
